Dear Everitt Families:
I hope you and your kids are enjoying the first day of a three day weekend. I am grateful to you supporting our staff in learning together, deepening their trust with one another, and collaborating to create learning experiences worthy of our kids' boundless potential.
Today, the Everitt Staff looked forward to next year and focused our vision of learning experiences that reveal the connections between the content areas. Teachers spent the morning working in grade-level teams, exploring the essential questions and big ideas of the school year in all content areas and looking for thematic connections between the different subjects. This sets the stage for us to create interdisciplinary projects that allow students to think more critically; answer broarder, more complex questions; problem-solve creatively; and collaborate authentically. We believe this kind of learning leads to not only greater retention of key concepts and improved academics skills, but also greater joy, engagement, and grit.
If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback for us as we explore this kind of planning, teaching, and learning, I'm always happy to hear from you. Schools truly function best when families, students, and staff behave as a single, cohesive wolfpack-- and we only get there if we talk honestly and often.
As always, thank you for believing in the power of neighborhood schools to bring our communities together, and thank you for sharing your kids with us; it is our honor to serve them.
