Immersion Education – Teaching academic content in another language

Hello Fronteras Families!

What a fantastic week at Fronteras! Thank you to Mr. Morteo and Mr. Shane for chaperoning our students in the gym Tuesday morning during our staff meeting! Your generosity of time is very very appreciated! Thank you parent, Christine Wagner, for helping with Picture Re-Takes! Having your assistance is a huge help, and we are very appreciative!

Looking ahead to next week; Monday and Tuesday, all certified staff will participate in a half-day CHAMPS workshop with retired Master Teacher, Counselor, and State Mentor, Lisa Stewart. CHAMPS stands for Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, Success! Teachers will learn how to “CHAMP” their lessons, transitions, hallway, lunch, labs, assembly behavior, etc. All which leads to improved student learning and ownership.

Fronteras will celebrate Halloween on Wednesday the 31st. Staff, students, and all guests are encouraged to dress up and join in the fun throughout the school. Most class parties will begin around 12:30pm. Ask your child’s teacher(s) for specific plans and/or needs. Please remember to send winter gear with your student(s) that day, as recess is still on the schedule. Please keep our costume protocols in mind:

· No blood or gore

· No lingerie

· No weapons

· No masks - except with teacher approval during class party

Parent Conferences are Thursday, November 1st in our school gym from 7:30-11:00am and again 12:05-3:00pm. Parents will receive Quarter 1 report cards at the conference. We look forward to seeing you!

Can you believe it is almost November? The school year is speeding right by! Our Christmas Bazaar will be here before we know it! Thank you for sharing your children with us!

Wishing you a fabulous weekend!

Most Sincerely,

Mrs. Hutchins

Behavioral Expectations

Parents,

Now that the school schedule has been established, it is still important and necessary to remind your child of behavioral expectations.

When arriving early, it is important that students remain quiet and still while waiting to walk to class at 7:50am. Please encourage your child to remain quiet and still so that the front desk Divas can hear phone calls and answer guest's questions.

Thank you for your support!

Baby, It's Getting Cold Outside!

Colder days are fast approaching! Please make sure your child has proper outdoor gear for recess, including a warm coat! District policy states that students go outside for recess up to -10!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, November 1st, 7:30am to 11:00am and 12:00pm to 3:00pm. All conferences are held in the gym!

Lost & Found

Lost & Found is displayed on tables and located in between the two front doors of the school. We encourage parents and students to check it daily. During parent teacher-conferences Lost & Found will be displayed on tables in the middle of the gym giving parents and students an opportunity to check it thoroughly one last time. After parent-teacher conferences Lost & Found will be donated to Good Will.

Fall Scholastic Book Fair

The fall Scholastic Book Fair will be held October 15th to November 1st in the Fronteras Library from 2:30pm to 4:00pm!

You can also shop online October 7th to October 20th by clicking on the link below to our Scholastic Online Book Fair!

Would you like to volunteer to help with the book fair? Let the front desk staff know! We will need help setting up, running the register, and packing up!!

Tuesday Morning Open Gym

In order to alleviate the Tuesday morning lobby congestion during the staff meeting, we are looking for volunteers to coordinate gym activities! We're looking for 3-4 adults from 7:30-8:00am. You can sign-up at the front desk. This is also a great opportunity to get those volunteer hours in!

Need. More. Food.

There has been an influx of students eating their entire lunch at snack time. To keep up with these growing kiddos, we ask that parents please pack a little extra in their lunches.

The Fronteras School Monitors aka The VIP's of Fronteras!

Who are the super humans that take care and supervise our students at lunch and recess every single day? School monitors! Our beloved Fronteras School Monitors are: back row L to R: Renee Fink, Charles Ward, Natalie Shier, Jennifer Avery. Front row L to R: Lynda Denny, Kenda Kline, Melonna Miles, and Karen Figueroa! They have one of the hardest jobs at the school, hands down and we are ever grateful and thankful for them everyday!

Have you hugged or thanked a school monitor today?

The Alaskan Nutcracker Field Trip

We are excited to announce that we have been invited back for a special viewing of the Alaskan Nutcracker at the Glenn Massay Theater on Thursday, December 6th! Permission slips went home with students on Friday, October 26th! Extra forms are available at the front desk and on the website. Please note that we are not taking chaperones this year due to limited seating and that this will be a whole school field trip with all staff and students attending. The school will be closed during the field trip from 10:30am to 1:00pm. If your child does not plan on attending the Alaskan Nutcracker, please make note on the permission slip and turn it in to the front desk and make other arrangements for your child during that time period!
