If you are interested in coming on any upcoming field trips, please contact Colleen Conrad to ensure you have updated your volunteer paperwork!
News from Ms. Hess
In math, we used cubes to identify all the different dimensions a rectangular prism containing the same volume could measure. We also practiced using the formula for volume to deduce a missing dimension.
In literacy, we continued our book clubs and working on writer's conferences to complete our research essays. A few students have already begun to create a slideshow to show what they have learned with the class.
In science, we explored the phases of the moon, the composition of stars, and constellations. We began researching a constellation with a partner. Next week, we will create our own constellation and create a story to explain.
Our girls did a wonderful job tracking the moon this week and recording it in their planners and our classroom! Boys will be tracking the moon next week by recording the moon each night of the week.
I am asking students to do some reflection at this time in the year about their learning. I am asking them to identify areas, specifically in mathematics, that they do not yet feel proficient and creating a plan for polishing their skills for our end of year show what you know assessments This means your child may choose to select some items on IXL as specific practice at home.
Additionally, students who feel they have achieved an exceeding level of understanding on a particular essential learning standard will be invited to "teach" a review mini-lesson on that particular skill. These students would create a set of problems and a check for understanding.

HELP NEEDED!!! Our guinea pigs need vacations plans for the summer!
If your family is interested in hosting Biscuit and Pebbles for some time this summer please let me know. In the past, families have chosen to care for the guineas for a period of time over the summer, sharing the summer as needed weekly or monthly.
Many thanks!
