Levin East School

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou

A big week just gone, and another ahead. This week we farewell Matua Ricky, a longstanding and highly valued staff member. We thank him for the wonderful service and investment in Taitoko ki te Rawhiti and wish him well in his role at the Horowhenua District Council.

Thank you for the positive feedback on our new newsletter model, we like it too! Thank you also for the ongoing support around our community response to the Omicron, you are fabulous. We will update you on any changes around Covid requirements/guidelines, as they come to hand. Please look after yourself and your whānau, and keep children home if they are sick or showing symptoms. Please, do not be offended if we contact you to come and collect your child.

We have wonderful supporters of our school, and I want to acknowledge Placemakers for their support of the Learning Support Centre, Te Whare Tautoko. This space is going to be another great support for our children. I also want to thank Countdown Kelvin Road, Palmerston North for the donation of Countdown Bricks - they will support our iLearn programmes right across the school. And, of course, a huge thank you to Mainfreight for their ongoing support of the Duffy programme. Amazing!

Today we welcome on board two new newsletter sponsors - Wild Rose Florist (www.wildroseflorist.co.nz) and LZ Tech Services (www.lztech.co.nz), a home security service. We thank them both for supporting our school in this way and ask that you support these local businesses, as they support us.

In closing, today I want to inform you that this will be my final year at Levin East. I have made the decision to retire from principalship. It has been a real privilege to spend my last 5 years here and I look forward to the remainder of the year. The Board of Trustees is working through the process of appointing a new principal to start in 2023.

Please feel free to catch up with us via email, phone or text- they are the safest ways at present.

Kiā pai tō wiki. Have a great week.
