Marlette Elementary News

November 2020

From the Principal's Desk

November is the month to remind us to be thankful for the many positive things happening in our lives. I am thankful for my terrific family, an encouraging church, excellent teachers and support staff, supportive parents who partner with us to ensure every child's success, and students who try their hardest every day and always give 100%. I am also thankful to live in a community as great as Marlette! We may not be perfect, but we are working to improve every day. With the current COVID pandemic and polarization of our country throughout this year's election, we have to be intentional about what we focus on and how we respond. If we are breathing, we have something to be thankful for today!

If you need to contact me, my office phone number is 989-635-4925, Google Voice number is 989-272-3718, and email address is Thank you all so much for trusting us with your children!

Report Cards

Please make sure you get your child's report card from them on Thursday, November 12. If you have any questions about the report card, please give us a call. We would be happy to explain why your child has a certain grade as well as ways to help them continue growing.

Annual Parent Survey

We would greatly appreciate you taking some time to complete our annual parent survey. It's only three questions, but help us immensely as we continue to move from good to great-

Book Fair 2020

The Fall Scholastic Book Fair will be totally online this year. The fair will be open November 2nd-15th. During the online fair you will have access to the same great titles as an in-school fair. You will also be able to shop for many other titles and levels of books right from home. Orders placed during our online fair will ship directly to your home and our school will benefit from each purchase. Book Fairs are always an exciting time at school, this year the excitement can be felt at home. To access the online fair please use:

Help for the Holidays

We should be excited as we approach this holiday season, but we know that there are many families who could use some extra help during this time of year. You can also contact Ms. Raeann if you would like to help out!

Recess Outdoors

I know it doesn't feel like it when the temps are hitting almost 70 degrees, but winter is coming, and with the unpredictability of Michigan's weather, please make sure students are dressed appropriately. We will continue to have outdoor recess until the temperature is 0 or lower with the wind chill. Keep an eye on the weather reports and make sure students have proper gear when the cold gets here. If you need help with a coat, hat, gloves, etc... let Ms. Raeann know and we will do our best to make sure your child is properly outfitted for winter.

School Closing Information

I know it's only November, but we live in Michigan and must expect the unexpected when it comes to our weather. If school is cancelled, we will flood the airwaves and internet with that information. Please do not contact the school. We will send information via:
  • WMIC-WTGV (Sandusky 97.7 & 92.5 FM)
  • Channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 25, 66.
  • Marlette Community Schools App available for Apple and Android
  • Marlette Community Schools Facebook
  • Marlette Community Schools Website
  • Marlette Elementary School Twitter
  • Marlette Elementary School Instagram
  • Marlette Elementary School Facebook

We will likely have some fun snow day challenges, so please make sure you follow us on social media!

If you don't receive an all-call on a snow day, it's because we don't have the correct number in Skyward. Be sure your information is up to date.

Due to special funding from the USDA, all student meals are free through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
