The Owl Update

SMS 6th Grade Center News September 2018

Thoughts from Mrs. Bohle

Thank you for another great month at the 6th Grade Center! Our Owls have settled into their new home, are making friends, and thriving! September has been a busy month. The following events all took place this month: Student Council Elections, the Class of 2025 Picnic, Great American Fundraiser, Book Fair, College and Career Go Week, and Parent/Teacher Conferences! Thank you for your support and participation in all of our events.

Like all of SCSC, the 6th Grade Center staff is working diligently to further develop "a quality education that will be relevant, rigorous, and remarkable." As a staff, we are reflective and eager to continue the journey of continual improvement! This year our staff will be focusing on the following interconnected practices: Universal Design for Learning (UDL), student engagement, and using technology in a meaningful way. We strive to meet the needs of all our learners with the best educational practices each and every day. I encourage our 6GC families to discuss the instruction, curriculum, and events of each day.

AdvancED Surveys

SCSC is dedicated to continual improvement and providing a highly effective and rigorous educational experience for all students. One way we measure our success is through the AdvancED accreditation process. We are preparing for our on-site review this semester, and would love to have your input! You may provide input via the parent survey at

https://tinyurl.com/scscparent2018. The survey should only take a few minutes, but we would appreciate your feedback!

Special Thanks

Officer Toborg, Officer Carpenter, Jackson County FOP, & Cummins for their hard work preparing for our picnic. Officers Toborg & Carpenter & the DARE program partnered with the FOP to provide a great picnic lunch, supervision, and fun for our picnic. Cummins employees spent a large portion of the morning blowing up approximately 450 balloons for the afternoon release. We truly appreciate our community partners!
