November News
What's happening at HGECC?
Pumpkin Season!
Dear HGECC families,
With fall and November, comes all things Pumpkin! From the pumpkin coffees and lattes the teachers are drinking, to the pumpkin pie we are taste testing, and pumpkin seeds we are counting, we can't get enough pumpkin! Our students have been so busy learning about big and little by comparing pumpkins, pinecones, and leaves! We have been outside collecting leaves and talking about all of the beautiful colors and shapes we see, touching and smelling the pumpkin's insides, and even baking muffins in class! So much rich vocabulary and language to develop while working with everyday objects!
Our trunk or treat event was AMAZING! Thank you to every one of you that came out and brought your little people to trick or treat! Even though it rained, and we moved inside-we still had a fabulous time! Our parent committee that helped plan and put this event together was a huge help to us and brought some great ideas to the event! We also had some great community partners that joined us in the fun! We can't see what we do with our next event!
Speaking of our next event--WinterFest is just around the corner! If you signed up to help plan and put on this event, you will be hearing from our staff soon to start planning. We are looking forward to working with you!
It was nice to see you at Parent Conferences too! Thanks for taking the time to come out and connect with our staff. We love to share with you what we are learning at school!
Another exciting addition this past month was our outdoor play space! We had a work day a few weeks ago, and some of our community partners, friends, staff, and family came to help build and install a balance beam, climbing tires, stepping stones, and plant trees! It is a great new space for our students to explore and play!
I would like to encourage you to check out your child's classroom website for pictures, resources, and updates on what is happening! We are always adding new information to our building page and teacher pages. Go to https://hgecc.grandviewc4.net, click on "about us", then go to "teachers and staff". Find your teacher's name and click on their website.
If you ever have any questions at all, please feel free to call or email me. I am always happy to meet with you!
Looking forward to a wonderful month of learning and growing!

Conscious Discipline Focus at Home:
Connection
All learning begins with connection!
Connections on the outside (with other people) actually create and strengthen neural connections within the brain. Eye contact, presence, touch and a playful setting are the four core components required to truly connect with others.
