Free rapid Testing for Students

As the school year continues, the health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. In an effort to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are pleased to share that we will be taking part in a statewide program offering rapid tests for use in schools free of charge.

This program uses BinaxNOW tests, which provide results in 15 minutes and are administered using a nasal swab in the front area of the nostril. These tests have been shown accuracy rates of 97-98% for symptomatic individuals.

Parents, a Student Consent Form for optional COVID-19 testing at school was sent home on a blue form. Students can take the test if they show symptoms or if they were a close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19. The nurse would call parents before administering the test to the students. We will only test with your consent.

If you did not receive the form you can get another one from Martin's front office to give permission for the nurse to perform the test when needed.

Mask are highly recommended here at Martin Elementary. Reminder if your student is sick, keep them at home and contact your child's teacher for make-up work.

Daily Dismissal

Parents we are asking that you not park in the front parking lots for drop off and pick up. In the morning when you are dropping off please stay in the Hendon line going west bound to drop your student/s off in the front. The parking lot is reserved for parents registering students and other scheduled appointments. If you drive up and park on campus to pick up a walker, your student will be changed to a car rider. Walkers need to be picked up on the opposite side the street at Hendon/Belle Glen. Starting Tuesday, September 7, both lots will be closed between the hours of 7:15-7:55 and 2:30-3:45, with exception of those who are registering a student or a scheduled conference.
