Important Information from our Nurses
Our health rooms have been very busy! You can do a lot to help keep your child healthy from home, such as…
- · Make sure your child has a clean water bottle labeled with their name, at school. This limits the use of the water fountain, which can pass germs between children. Plastic bottles are preferred for safety reasons, and they make less noise when they are dropped. Clean this bottle once weekly with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely.
- · Please teach and reinforce good coughing and sneezing etiquette
- · Reinforce good hand washing and hand hygiene skills
- · There has been an increase in children complaining of fatigue and sleeping in class. Children under 12 need 9-12 hours a night of sleep. Please support healthy sleeping habits, such as having a consistent bedtime and wake time, getting outside every day for at least 30 minutes, and remove screens at least 30 minutes prior to bedtime.
- · Balanced meals, extra vitamin C and D are great this time of year.
IF your student does get sick, to return to school they must:
- · -Have NO fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher) for 24 hours WITHOUT fever-reducing medications (Ibuprofen (Motrin), Acetaminophen (Tylenol).
- · -No episodes of vomiting in the last 24 hours
- · -No episodes of diarrhea in the last 24 hours. Diarrhea is defined in CCPS policy as Three or more watery stools in a 24-hour period.
- · -Your child must be well enough to participate in class.
COVID Policy:
- Tested POSITIVE: It is recommended that the student stay home on days 1-5. The student may return on day 6 if there is no fever, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours. Masking days 6-10 is recommended. IF the child is a symptom free positive, they may attend with masking recommended.
- EXPOSED to a positive: Child may come to school if they remain symptom free (masking recommended). If symptoms develop, test.
Looking forward to a great week!
