September News from Rosedale!
Things you need and want to know about our school community
We are so excited about that your family is part of our community.
Currently we have over 400 students and are eager to welcome more from the new construction.
Our focus this September has been community in classrooms and as a school. #lionpride
We are also jumping right into stretching our brains with academic work. Math and writing are areas of focus this year.Attendance is another focus this year. WE LOVE TO HAVE YOUR STUDENT HERE! Remember our HSD motto is 9 or less absences is best. Students who attend regularly create strong social connections and increase their academic skills.
Thanks for sharing your student with us. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help your child. We are a team.
Looking forward to an awesome October.
Featured Grade: Third Grade
In third grade, we focus heavily on building a community of respectful, kind, and inquisitive learners. We start each morning with a morning meeting where students greet one another, share their opinions, or do a team building activity. It allows to start the day strong and focused on how to be our best self during the day.
We’re also easing the transition from lunch recess to class with a designated “quiet time.” Students spend ten minutes listening to calming music and doing an activity of their choice. Some students love to read and sketch, while others enjoy squeezing Play-Doh or building with shape blocks. This allows students time to regulate their bodies after playing outside therefore they are ready to learn and finish the day productively.
Calming Corner (here's a self regulation tip from our wellness center, THE LION'S DEN
Two of the top calming tools students are learning in our Wellness center/The Lion's Den are pausing or using our PAUSE TOOL.
That is when we take time to cool off before we respond to a problem or situation. We are also learning different breathing techniques which always follow pausing.
Top 2 breathing techniques are counting breath (breathe in through your nose and hold for 5 seconds then breathe out through your mouth) and Lazy 8 Breathing.
Ask your student to show you some calming breathing exercises they have learned and enjoy practicing them together.
News from RPG (Rosedale Parent Group)
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online. If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. Thanks for helping our school get what it needs! BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE NEW APP OR UPDATE YOUR EXISTING APP: SCAN YOUR RECEIPT BTFE.COM
