Shooting for Perfection
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Several of your team spent Saturday morning at the LCSD Career Fair mingling with other schools and meeting educational professionals hoping to join our wonderful school district. It was a great day and full of lots of reminders.
The most important reminder that I had on Saturday was just how hard we work here at Brooklyn Springs. We are all so blessed to have such dedicated staff on our team. Working in a critical needs school means we have to constantly be analyzing everything we do and changing to meet the needs of our students. This is why so many of us are perfectionists. Being a perfectionist brings its own challenges and stresses, but shooting for perfection is not a bad thing. Because, when you shoot for perfection and miss your aim, you quite often land on excellence and THAT is not a problem at ALL!
As we continue to reflect on our practices, let's toss out the fluff and continue to build the challenging, high-level tasks our children deserve. Our students will rise to the occasion. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was the Best School Ever! It takes years to turn around a school, and we have turned so far already! I am so excited to see how much growth we show on MAP testing next week. GROWTH! It's all about the GROWTH process! And that is what each of us are doing every single day, growing children more and more!
Welcome Aboard!!!
We would like to welcome Michaila Mingo to the Kindergarten Team as Instructional Assistant to Marquita Kennedy!
Here are a few things Michaila would like to share:
"Hello my name is Michaila Mingo. I am very excited to become a part of the Brooklyn Springs Elementary family. I have been born and raised in Lancaster, South Carolina. I have a beautiful son named Dru’ Michael. I received my CDA (Child Development Associate) in 2018 and my EDU 119 (Early Childhood Education) in 2021. I have experience in teaching young children for 6+ years. I absolutely love what I do, and I love seeing children learn and grow every day. I'm very family oriented. I love spending time with my family and friends in my free time."

~Nuts & Bolts~
Winter F&P Window
The Winter F&P Window will be January 8 - February 5. This includes ALL students (except self-contained special needs students unable to complete the assessment) during this Winter Window. The only students that are newly tested in this window are 5K students. They have not been formally F&P tested at this time unless the classroom teacher has made that decision due to progress monitoring results yielding a student already had a reading level.
