COMPUTERS
and everything you need to know about them
The Hard Drive
A disk drive used to read from and write to a hard disk. Alternatively referred to as a hard disk drive and abbreviated as HD or HDD, the hard drive is the computer's main storage media device that permanently stores all data on the computer. The hard drive was first introduced on September 13, 1956 and consists of one or more hard drive platters inside of an air sealed casing. Most computer hard drives are in an internal drive bay at the front of the computer and connect to the motherboard using either an ATA, SCSI, or SATA cable and power cable.
SSD
An SSD serves the same function as an HDD but it is a Solid-state device, with no moving parts (as in an HDD). It is more robust than an HDD, it takes less time to prepare to read or write and the read write time is also less! Thus it is ideal for computers that are used in applications where they may be subject to physical shock (as in military applications).
