Fun Run Success!
The Fun Run took place on Friday, October 6th and we raised a total of just
over $33,500.00! Thank you to all the Glendale families for being part of this
great event! With our earnings, we were able to add two new pieces of equipment to our playground. As part of the student reward for meeting and EXCEEDING the
Fun Run fundraising goal, the entire school received cupcakes last Friday to celebrate. Classrooms that reached their set goals will be given an ice cream party courtesy of the PTC, and the top earning classes will be given a pizza party! Thank you to the teachers and parent volunteers for helping make it a success for the students!

Referendum Information
Did You Know….
Only 35% of eligible voters who have children in the Prior Lake – Savage Area Schools voted in the referendum vote last May?
The last referendum failed by less than 500 votes?
You can vote early by going to the courthouse in Shakopee during normal business hours?
You can have a ballot sent to you – at your home – so you can vote? You simply fill out the form, mail it in, (or you can drop it off at Five Hawks and we will get it in for you!), and a ballot is sent directly to you? You just have to vote and mail it back before November 7th.
We are projected to grow by over 2100 students in the next ten years? (That’s about the same number of students currently in 4 of our elementary schools combined, or think of it as 27 school buses full of students!)
Your Vote is Important? Please remember to vote early or to vote on November 7th.
EARLY RELEASE
Four early release days have been built into the district calendar this year.
This will provide professional development opportunities for staff. On Thursday, November 9th students will be dismissed at 1:50 pm. There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 10th. Please mark your calendar.
Conferences
Staff members are looking forward to your visit for parent/teacher
conferences on November 14th from 4:15-6:15 pm, November 16th from
4:15-8:15 pm and November 20th from 4:15-8:15 pm. We have traditionally had 98% of our parents attend conferences and are looking forward to a great turnout again this fall! If you have not signed up for a conference time please use the following link to do so:
New Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
We started our new Arrival & Dismissal Procedures on October 24th.
Thank you for your continued understanding and patience as we implement this new system.
Morning arrival:
All K-5 students that are dropped off or walk should now go to the lower level doors. All students should arrive to school at 9:10 am. There will not be supervision for students who arrive before 9:00 as our teachers are in meetings. Kid’s Co. is available for families that need supervision before 9:00. You will need to register your student with Kid’s Co. At 9:00 the doors will open and students can come in to the lower level and sit by their grade level sign until dismissal to the classrooms at 9:10. Buses now will drop students off on the upper level parking lot. For students that are arriving late after 9:20am, parents will need to park in the upper parking lot and accompany their student in to the main office to sign them in for the day. The lower level doors will be locked at 9:20am.
End of the day dismissal:
Buses will pick up students in the upper level parking lot. All K-5 students that are picked up or walk will be in the lower level parking lot. If you are picking up your student, please have your sign ready, visible in the window and line up in the lower level parking lot. We will then call names and dismiss students as we see the signs in the cars. When arriving in the parking lot, always stay to the right and form only one line. **PLEASE USE THE FULL LENGTH OF THE SIDEWALK WHEN PICKING UP YOUR CHILD TO HELP KEEP THE LINE MOVING.
Kids Co. is available if you need care for your student after 4:00. If there is an emergency and you are going to be late, please notify the office and your student will be waiting in the front office. You will need to come in and sign them out.
*We no longer require K-1 parents to come inside and sign out their student at the end of the day, they have now joined the car line. Please keep in mind this has added a good 40 cars to the line, hence the longer wait time right now. Once we all get accustomed to the new process, this plan will alleviate crowding and long wait times in the car line and create greater efficiencies for our buses. Parking in the upper lot will be very limited during these times.
Book Fair Volunteers Needed!
The Book Fair will be here November 14th-20th! This is always an exciting time for our students as they LOVE new books! As in past years the book fair can’t run smoothly without parent volunteers. Please consider signing up for a time with the sign up link below. The students and Ms. Quinn appreciate it so much!
CARES
Students at Glendale will be recognized for showing the CARES skills through out the school year. Adults can recognize students who are doing an excellent job demonstrating: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy or Selfcontrol. Students who are recognized will be honored with a certificate, have their names announced at an All School Meeting and will be in the Glendale monthly newsletter. The school will be holding three CARES events this year to celebrate positive behavior at our Glendale! The first CARES celebration will be held on December 12 at 8:15 am and will include CARES nominees
from October & November.
Cold Weather Apparel
Dressing your child with warm clothes, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots helps students have a fun time in cold, snowy weather. Students will always go outdoors for recess unless the "feels like" temperature falls below -5 degrees or it is steadily raining. Please help to make sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess each day!
SPAN
SPAN is the Synergy/SAGE Parent Action Network. We are also known as the Prior Lake-Savage Chapter of the MN Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT). Our mission is to support and advocate for academically advanced students, their parents, and their educators. SPAN hosts meetings featuring speakers and specific discussion topics throughout the school year. Our next meeting will take place on Thursday Nov. 2 at 7pm in the WestWood Elementary Media Center (5370 WestWood Dr. SE; Prior Lake, MN 55372), featuring a panel of district personnel who work with gifted children. They will each give a brief presentation about how the needs of gifted kids are met at their educational level. There will be plenty of time for parent questions. Please email Apryl at span.priorlake@gmail.com with question/concerns.
See all of our meeting dates on our website www.mcgt.net/priorlake.
