World of Work Wednesdays! - We need your help!
November is National Career Awareness Month
World of Work Wednesdays are 1-hour, virtual events where a panel of professionals take questions, interview-style from me, the School Counselor. Questions will be pre-released to those who participate in the panel.
We hope to have 2-3 professionals, within the same field, on each panel and hope to hold multiple events throughout the school year. That way, we can present on various career fields!
If you are interested in participating in a panel, complete this survey, and I will contact you.
If you know someone who would be a great person to share their career with our community, share this survey with them, and I will reach out!
Let's build a partnership for the success of our students!

Mind Benders- Deductive Thinking Skills
This is our best-selling deductive thinking puzzles series that develops the logic, reading comprehension, and mental organization skills vital to achieving higher grades and top test scores in all subjects. These award-winning, fun puzzles are also great for developing real-life, problem-solving skills!
Students learn to carefully analyze each Mind Benders® story and its clues, identifying logical associations between people, places, and things. The key is to make sure you get all the information out of each clue, by starting with the most obvious associations, then deducing the less obvious associations until everything finally fits together.
Books and software both include step-by-step instructions and detailed answers. Puzzles increase in difficulty as you progress. The software also includes many other features that allow students to play and learn with little or no teacher time required.
Additional Software Features:
- Multi-user login
- Helpful in-game hints
- Answer check without showing solutions
- Saves student progress
- Printable student scores (Win only)
- Completion award certificate

Homeschooling Advice
5 homeschool reminders from a former classroom teacher
"I was chatting with a friend last week about all the things she felt bad about not accomplishing, six weeks into the new school year. Like me, she homeschools. Like me, she struggles to feel a sense of progress and success.
My kids are still not in a routine.
I haven’t lesson planned on Saturdays like I thought I would.
I haven’t graded their math work for two weeks.
As she spoke, it occurred to me that she was beating herself up for things that, when I was teaching in a classroom, we all accepted was just a part of teaching.
When I shared this with her, she was stunned. Having never wanted to teach prior to homeschooling her children, she had no idea that other moms, much less other teachers, might struggle with the same thing.
Sometimes, we can be a little too focused on what happens in a traditional classroom.
For example, when my family first started homeschooling, I made the mistake of trying to replicate the very same school experience that was not working for my boys, because it was what I knew. (Ya’ll, I even rang a little bell when it was time to start or break for recess.)
While it’s important for us to lean into what is more flexible and different about homeschooling, I believe there are also some things we can learn from teachers who somehow manage a classroom of thirty smelly, sweet little ones without losing their minds."
