Message for Rookie Parents
We are very excited to have the nationally recognized motivational speaker, Jeff Veley, here in Coppell ISD on Friday, October 28, 2016. Rookie learners from NTH@C will ride a special shuttle to CHS to view this from 10:15 to 11am. Jeff and his team will be talking with our learners about his mission, which is to equip students with the social and emotional skills that empower them to face adversity, grow in resilience, and solve their own social problems.
You are invited to attend one or both of his family sessions which he will offer at 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Middle School West Auditorium. If you wish to attend one of these sessions please park in the North parking lot (facing Wrangler) and enter through the set of doors nearest to the Auditorium (Dome). You will not need to check in through the front office, we will have campus personnel present to check you in.
We feel this will be a great opportunity for both learners and their families to hear the same message and have the same learning experience. Our hope is that families are able to continue to have conversations about bullying and social pressures of adolescence and teen years.

Counselor's Corner
This message was sent to all juniors and seniors this past week:
Please read through the following items. I have included some links with important information to make sure that you are completing the college application process correctly and efficiently. Most of this information really only involves the current seniors, but it will be good for you juniors to become familiar with it as well.
- If a school accepts The Common Application, then USE The Common Applicationto apply to that school even if they also use Apply Texas or their own application.
- Go HERE for some important information about how to submit apps, request transcripts and more.
- Remember that the GO Center is returning on November 2nd. They provide assistance with apps, scholarships, FAFSA, essays, planning, and more. Go HEREto register.
- I created a Calendar of important deadlines and events HERE. Bookmark this page and check it often.
- Check the Counseling tab on the New Tech website HERE. There is information on a large range of topics that may be helpful to you.
- Money is out there to help you pay for college. Go HERE for information. Complete your FAFSA immediately! The sooner you complete it the better chance you have of receiving free money.
- The University of Alabama will be visiting during lunches on 10/27. Make plans to visit.
Please remember that I am available anytime you have a question about any of the above or something else. You all are doing a great job with this process so far, but I think we can make it a little better for all of us.
PTSO Write A Check
The New Tech PTSO Write-A- Check campaign has officially started and will run until October 26th!
If you have already contributed – THANK YOU for your donation! Your Learners will be bringing home forms for you to complete and to be returned with your donation to their Networking Team Facilitator – All donations are graciously accepted! The goal for this year is $10,000. “If 200 families contribute at the $50 level, we will achieve our goal!”
Why Donate?
1. Every dollar you donate stays with New Tech and directly benefits the Learners and Facilitators. The money helps fund specific requests for equipment, scholarships for graduating seniors and this year we are funding the Shattered Dreams event (a don’t drink and drive program that will take place in Spring).
2. Your contribution is Tax Deductible.
Double Your Donation
See if your employer has a matching gift program and you can double your contribution which will help New Tech PTSO reach our annual goal.

Coppell Education Red and Black Campaign
Did you know that over $983,000 in grants have been awarded to CISD schools and educators by the Coppell Education Foundation?
The Coppell Education Foundation’s 2016 annual Red & Black fundraising campaign will run from October 24th through November 18th. This year we will reach the ONE MILLION DOLLAR mark in grants awarded! Still, only with contributions from our community’s families and businesses can we continue to support motivating, innovative education for all Coppell students!
