People called Babe The Great Bambino for his baseball hits. Babe Ruth was born in 1895 in his home state of Maryland and his real name is George Herman Ruth. George and one of his siblings were the only ones who survived as a baby. Next Babe Ruth was in school his friend was really into baseball so he told him to just try it. When he was 15 he was getting better at baseball and he was really good at pitching and hitting. He even got noticed by Jack Dunn, the owner of a minor league team. The coach from the minor leagues asked Babe to play for the Red Soxs.
Babe Ruth came from Pittsburgh. When Babe Ruth got traded for the New York Yankees, Babe was the one of the five national baseball players. When Babe played for the Yankees, Babe broke the world record with 60 home runs. In 1895-1948 babe was the greatest baseball hitter in the world. Babe was famous because of his 100ft home runs. Babe retired baseball in 1935. In 1948 Babe died of cancer.
