Ms. Bradford's Peek of the Week
See what we will be learning May 18th-21st
ELA
**Students are beginning to take their end of the year DRA reading tests to test for their end of the year reading level! Please be sure that you are continuing to read with your child at home every night!
Writing: In writing, we are going to start learning about functional writing! We are going to learn the correct way to format and write a letter! Students will then be able to write a letter to a kindergarten friend telling them what to expect when they come to first grade!
Phonics: Because we do not have school on Friday, and we also lose a day on Wednesday because of our Field trip, we will NOT have a spelling test this week! Students will do fun phonics activities whole group but are not responsible for 10 spelling words.
Social Studies
This week we will begin learning about Texas and it's different regions. Students will watch a PowerPoint about Texas and will be able to see all the different landforms, animals, plants, etc. that you can find here in Texas!

Please make sure your child comes prepared for school every day. This means that they have a signed blue folder brought to school with them every day. They also need to have their library books so that they can read them in class. They are getting ready to become second graders and need to learn how to be responsible. Also, students begin coming into the classroom at 7:45 a.m. Announcements begin at 7:50 and we begin class promptly at 8:00. If your student is arriving to school at 8:00, they are missing out on the beginning of our day while they are getting unpacked and ready to join us.
