GREEN TREE ELEMENTARY
SIX HOUSES, ONE FAMILY
NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2020
NOVEMBER ESSENTIAL - ALWAYS BE PRESENT BY BEING A GOOD LISTENER
- Be a good listener.
- Nod your head and react appropriately to the comments being made.
- Look at the person who is talking
- Add short comments that fit such as: "That is so interesting!" or "Wow!"
DECEMBER ESSENTIAL - AT ALL TIMES KEEP YOUR HANDS, FEET AND OTHER OBJECTS TO YOURSELF
When you transition from one subject to the other, the change will be swift, quiet, and orderly. We should be consistently able to turn from one book to another, complete with all homework and necessary materials, as quickly as possible. The opportune amount of time to spend in transition should be less than ten seconds, and we will work towards a goal of seven seconds.
The more time spent transitioning, the more time kids have to talk, move around, etc.
When in a line, walk single file, two to three feet behind the person in front of you with your arms at your sides. Face forward at all times. There is absolutely no talking.
Make your mind and body safe
Keep others around you safe
THIS YEAR'S 2020/21 TEACHER OF THE YEAR IS---GINA RANDOLPH
“Gina is patient and kind, but firm with the kids. They know how much she cares and that's half the battle!”
“Gina is not just a colleague, but a friend. She has a heart of gold and always puts the needs of others before her own without hesitation. She is also one of the most patient, kind, loving, understanding and by far one of the greatest teachers I know.”
“Gina exemplifies connecting with the kids. She knows them, loves them, and guides them with such flawless effort. And has one of the best smiles around.”
“She is so patient, always willing to help others, and she loves the kiddos unconditionally.”

HONORING VETERANS
GTE honored veterans a little differently this year with a virtual assembly. All classes participated. Sixth grade readers performed an informative script that gave the history of Veteran's Day. Primary students created patriotic crafts. Older students made collaborative projects in their rooms. Fourth graders recited a poem and fifth graders sang a piece together in their classrooms. It was a fantastic day even though we could not have our guests of honor with us. Click here to watch a slideshow of the veterans on our WALL OF HONOR.
HONOR ROLL AND CHARACTER AWARDS
Congratulations to our many gators who received honor roll, principal's honor roll and character awards this quarter!
IT IS TIME FOR OUR SCHOLASTIC ONLINE BOOK FAIR
The fair runs online from November 24th to December 7th. Click here to shop online.
This is the first online only book fair we have hosted. We hope that you will look at the great products that Scholastic offers. They have over 6,000 books to get your child excited about reading. The search engine provides ways to shop for grade level, genres, interests, and reading level. If you order $25 or more in books, shipping is FREE to your home. What a great way to shop for the holidays! Please share this link with grandparents, friends, and family. Green Tree will earn 25% of the total sold for our school. We will use these funds to purchase new books and technology for the Green Tree Library. Questions? Please contact Mrs. Muench at jeanmuench@wsdr4.org. Thank you for taking a look at our Scholastic Online Book Fair from 11/24/2020 to 12/07/2020!
