Drop off/Pick up Important Information
Please remember to pull all the way forward when dropping off or picking up your child to help keep the flow of traffic moving. It is also helpful to have your child sitting on the right side of the car so they can get in and out of the car easily and safely on the curb side. When you have dropped off your child in the morning or have safely secured and buckled in the afternoon please exit the line through the parking lot. Under no circumstances should you leave your car in the drop off/pick up line unattended.
Please also remember that if you are walking to get your child they will be out at parent pick up and you can meet them there. I know it might sound cumbersome but once you have your student(s) we would appreciate you walking all the way around to the North side of the entrance/exit where you can safely cross the street at the crosswalk with the patrol crossing guards. The crosswalk at our entrance is on private property so it is under our discretion to close it at the beginning and end of the day for our 500+ students arriving and leaving campus.
Please review the attached document "For the Safety of Our Students" for parking lot procedures. Once again we appreciate your cooperation and support in making our parking lot safe!
Curriculum Night - September 27th
Curriculum Night is September 27th at 6:00pm. In addition to our traditional Curriculum Night our staff wanted to add an informational fair this year. Our hope is to provide an opportunity to engage as a full community and help our families feel comfortable and informed about school and how they can interact and support their children in the learning process.
6:00-6:15 Welcome from Principal MacLean, Eagle's Nest
6:20-6:50 Session 1
6:55-7:25 Session 2
7:30 - 8:00 Resource Fair/Ice Cream Social
*The information fair will be in the hallways throughout the building.
After visiting your child's classroom and the information fair, please join us in the Eagle's Nest for the ice cream social, served by our very own Cedar Way Teachers!
The YMCA will be providing child care in the gym.

Comfort Kits
In the event of a severe earthquake or snowstorm, our children may have to stay at school for a considerable length of time. We would like to have families assemble a "comfort kit" to help our children be as comfortable as possible during that time. Comfort kits contain items for warmth, nourishment and emotional support.
Ziplock bags with additional information were sent home this week. Please collect the items, put them in the gallon-sized zip-lock bag and return them to your child's teacher as soon as possible. The bags will be stored in your child's classroom and returned home at the end of the year.
Please clearly label each item with your child's first and last name, grade level and teacher.

Does your child love to sing? CW Choir Information
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome back to school! My name is Elizabeth Anderson and I’m the new music teacher here at Cedar Way. I am very excited to get started with choir again this year! We will have two choirs this year: intermediate choir for grades 4-6, which will rehearse 2 times per week during morning recess, and primary choir for grades 2 and 3 which will rehearse once a week during afternoon recess. I hope to see lots of kids coming to make wonderful music in both groups!
For both choirs, I expect students who participate to be committed to coming to rehearsals so that we can prepare for performances. Both choirs will sing at assemblies throughout the school year: in addition, this year intermediate choir will perform at the Southeast Quad Concert on March 7 and at the end of the year performance along with band and orchestra. Primary choir will have a spring concert as well on a date that is not yet scheduled.
I will be sending out a parent permission form for choir very soon so keep an eye out for that if your students are interested! In the meantime, if you know your student is interested please send me and email with their name, your name and your student’s teacher. And whether your student joins choir or not I look forward to making music with them all year long! Finally, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions.
-Elizabeth Anderson, Cedar Way Music Teacher
