Mock Trial is an exciting elective course at Fulmore taught by Mr. Galan. The Mock Trial class is going on their annual field trip where students practice skills they learned in their very own mock trial. We need parent support to make this trip a success. If you are interested in volunteering your time please contact Mr. Galan by email at johnny.galan@austinisd.org Tentative Mock Trial field trips are scheduled for November 2nd and sometime in December. Two more trips will occur in April and May (specific dates TBD).
Students learn about National Hispanic Heritage Month in SEL/Advisory.
"Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period." (HispanicHeritageMonth.gov)
We are still in need of a few microwaves for the cafeteria. The microwaves are used by our students so they can heat up food from home. If you are interested in donating a microwave to our school cafeteria please contact sherry.lepine@austinisd.org.

ADMINISTRATORS BIO
Stacie Holiday is the proud Principal of Fulmore Middle School. She is originally from El Paso, Texas and came to this area on a volleyball scholarship from Texas State University. At Texas State, Ms. Holiday earned her degree in Education with a specialization in the areas of Math and Science for grades 4-8. Ms. Holiday has a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas. She is currently working on her doctoral degree and superintendent certification. Ms. Holiday has two beautiful children ages 5 and 7 and loves to spend time with them. Ms. Holiday enjoys reading, gardening and the outdoors. She has 13 years of experience working with middle school students. Ms. Holiday believes that all students have the potential to do great things and make a difference. Her famous quote and philosophy of education is "if students do not learn the way you teach, teach the way they learn." She is driven by her passion for motivating middle school students and providing them with unique meaningful learning experiences.
Dr. Sherry Lepine is the Academic Director at Fulmore Middle School and joined the leadership team this school year. A native Austinite, Dr. Lepine attended Cunningham Elementary, Bedichek Jr. High, Crockett High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School back when gas cost 65 cents a gallon. She then went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin earning undergraduate and graduate degrees. Dr. Lepine is a member of the AISD Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee, and a proponent for outdoor education and environmental science. She also supervises pre-service principals for Texas State University in the Educational Leadership Department in her spare time (and because everyone in education has to work at least two jobs). She believes all students should have access to quality educational programming that is culturally responsive, inclusive, engaging, relevant and most importantly, FUN! Dr. Lepine is the person to contact for questions about Dual Language, Special Education, Scheduling, and anything academic-related. You can find her playing volleyball in the sand on Friday nights and digging in the dirt in the garden on the weekends. She is an avid college football fan, and of course, her team is the Longhorns, Hook 'em Horns!
Leigh Northcutt-Benson is an Austin native and thrilled to be starting her 5th year as the Fulmore Magnet Director. Ms. Northcutt-Benson was previously at Travis High School for 13 years where she loved teaching Social Studies. She helped implement their SEL/Advisory program, served as the Social Studies Instructional Specialist and worked with freshmen in the role of Assistant Principal. She was honored to serve as AISD's Teacher of the Year in 2006 and obtained her Master's in Educational Administration from the University of Texas. Ms. Northcutt-Benson comes from an education family and is very proud of her 18 year old son, who graduated from McCallum in 2018. She loves her family, her church, music, cats, and gardening and is passionate about social justice and civics.
Matt Earhart, Assistant Principal. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s Principalship Program, Mr. Earhart is excited for his second year at Fulmore. Originally from small-town Missourah, Mr. Earhart received his Bachelor’s in Social Studies Education from the University of Central Missouri, teaching US History & AVID during his 12 years in the classroom. Mr. Earhart’s passion for equity and social justice is often fueled and supported by his wife, Kathryn, and their amazing friends and family. Matt and Kathryn love to travel, with a particular fondness for visiting Mexico City and New Orleans. They love their dog, Tiller, and are often most content with a weekend of binge-watching Netflix.
RoLanda Williams - I am originally from Carson, California. My senior year of high school my family relocated to Austin, Texas. After high school I attended Austin Community College and later transferred to the University of North Texas. I obtained my bachelor's degree in Public Administration and a minor Criminal Justice. My first career was working in the Human Resource area in the payroll department. In 2000, I applied to the Dallas Independent School District alternative teacher program. My first teaching job was with the Dallas Independent School District teaching 3rd grade. In my educational career I have taught 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade (self-contained and departmentalized). My area of expertise is English Language Arts and English as a Second Language. I was an ELA teacher at Fulmore for two years and have been an assistant principal at Fulmore for the last five years. I believe that all students can learn and it is up to us as educators to find the way for them to understand the content that is being taught. I am the proud mother of two sons and one daughter. My oldest son is 22 years old and attended Texas A&M. My youngest son is a 16 years old and a junior at Anderson High school who is an active athletic in basketball and football. My daughter is 2 years old and is spellbound by her bedtime stories. I spend my weekends with my children and my family. In my spare time I love to read and attend the latest movies.
Alberto Alonso - A typical weekend for my wife and I consists of getting very creative to accommodate ours daughters’ dance and competitive cheer competitions and soccer games. My wife and I have 3 daughters (Ages: 15, 10, & 8) and 1 baby boy on the way.
My passion is education and rejoicing in the successes of others. I started my teaching career during my undergraduate program as a student assistant for the Go Project, which is program that helped students between the ages of 18 – 22 who have significant disabilities, receive special education services, and have met minimum graduation requirements. The program focused on the transition life domains consisting of employment, recreation & leisure, post-secondary education and independent living.
My experience at the Go Project ignited my passion for teaching students with disabilities; this influenced my transition to a role of teacher assistant for the Social Behavior Skills (SBS) and Life Skills unit at Covington Middle School. Moreover, my experience as Teacher Assistant influenced my transition to Wooten Elementary where I had the opportunity to serve as a Bilingual Resource Teacher and later served as the Special Education Department Chair. I’m currently going into my 3rd year as the proud Assistant Principal at Fulmore Middle School.
Serving as an Assistant Principal has been a blessing and rewarding experience. I want to lead as an administrator to ensure that all students get the same opportunity to be successful in a safe and engaging learning environment. I believe that each child deserves champion educators that reinforce the importance of a whole child approach to education and building trusting relationships. Our students, staff, and parents warrant strong leadership that creates change by recognizing collaboration and sharing its development and implementation. Our students, staff, and parents are worthy of an administration that understands that everyone in the schoolhouse is entitled to respect and a voice.
