Bayridge Bulletin: Family Update
October 8, 2021
We had some books to give away so students got FREE BOOKS!
Dear Bayridge Families,
Welcome October! We have so much to be thankful for in our Bayridge Community! We are proud of our staff and students and their willingness to embrace new learning and new opportunities!
Staff has been taking advantage of this amazing weather and our big, beautiful school yard for lots of outdoor learning: literacy, math, science, art, health, social studies and physical education are all taking place in outdoor spaces. This also allows teachers to provide students with supervised mask breaks throughout the day.
Here's to a great long weekend! We thank you for your partnership in your child's education.

and the Bayridge School Team
We are also working with "Operation Warm Feet" to provide boots to children. Available sizes are 6T-men's 13/women's 11.
If your child is in need, please let their teacher know by October 22nd.
Volunteers for BINGO
We are lucky to have the support of YGK PLAY! From time to time we require volunteers at the BINGO games. Volunteers have to be fully vaccinated and trained. If you are interested in volunteering, please email: manonthibodeau.mt@gmail.com

Allergy Alert
Please be aware that we have staff and students who have allergies to foods as well as environmental allergies. Some of these allergies are life-threatening. With this in mind, we ask that all staff, students and visitors refrain from sending/bringing items to school that contain or have come in contact with peanuts and other nuts.
School Council
Our next meeting is on Thursday, October 28 @ 5 pm. The link will be shared closer to the date. All are welcome to join us!
A couple of reminders:
-students MUST bring a water bottle - many do not have one and aren't able to drink from our fountains because they are closed due to COVID
-If possible, please provide your child with a pouch or fanny pack to store their mask when they are doing recess/outdoor learning/mask breaks with their teacher
-we request that if you are walking/picking up your child on our yard that you wear a mask (there are too many people to be able to maintain a 2-meter distance)
-please do not park in the pick-up/drop-off spots
-please contact the main office if your child's normal end of day routine will be different (e.g., not taking the bus/attending their regular after school care program)
-we go outdoors for recess & outdoor learning in all types of weather...including when it is lightly raining! Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather and has extra clothing in case of spills or bathroom accidents

Cross Country
KFL&A has approved our Cross-Country meet. It will take place for our students on Wed. Oct. 13 in the morning at Fort Henry. Not all of our runners were able to attend this event. Spectators are not allowed at this time. Stay tuned for an update about how we did!
If your students are playing sports, you may want this:
Children Arriving Late/Early Pick-up
In order to limit the number of parents on school property, we ask that students leave early only if it's absolutely necessary, e.g., for an appointment. If you are picking your child up early, please come to the front door and ring the bell to speak with a staff member. We will bring your child to the door to meet you. If you arrive early to pick up your child, we ask that you wait until dismissal at 3:25 pm in order for us to stick to our safe dismissal routines as much as possible.
Staying Connected and Getting School Information
LDSB schools and school board use School Messenger to send key messages, alerts, and general communication to families. Bayridge PS uses this platform and will continue to use our Family Update on Fridays to provide information to families. These newsletters are where we will share school-specific information and highlights of student work and events in the building. This newsletter is sent out via School Messenger on our school Twitter account, and our website
SchoolMessenger App: Download the SchoolMessenger App to stay connected. Use your mobile device to download and install the free SchoolMessenger blue app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, the SchoolMessenger website portal, or from within the LDSB mobile app.
The first time you use the app, you must select Sign Up to create your account. Please ensure you use the same email address your student’s school has on file. If you do not use that same email address, you will not be able to create an account.
Please do this screener everyday BEFORE sending your child(ren) to school:
