Mustang Messenger Goodbye 5th
Dear Rising 6th Grade Mustang Parents:
While we never imagined this would be the sendoff we are experiencing as your children transition to middle school, know that we at Lakeway Elementary are always here for you. It has been a pleasure to watch your children grow, and we will certainly miss your families. We wanted to send your children off to their next chapter with a few things to remember.
“Breathe, darling, this is just a chapter; it’s not your whole story.”
Life can be tough but you are tougher!
It is okay to cry but get up off the floor and wash your face when you are done. You don’t belong down there.
Don’t “fake it ‘til you make it.” Face it ‘til you make it. Get up. Work hard. Fail. Stand back up. Face it again. Do a little better. Fail again. Get back up. Repeat.
Remind yourself that you are a warrior and warriors do not give up.
Don’t wait for things to get better. Life can be complicated. Learn to be happy right now or do what is necessary to make changes for a happier life.
You don’t need to have it all figured out to move forward.
Being nice to someone you don’t like, doesn’t mean you’re fake. This means you are mature enough to tolerate your dislike of them.
You are amazing! Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you’re not and if someone does… walk away. You deserve better.
Always remember, you are loved.
We are here for you in times when you and your children would like to share their accomplishments but we're also here for those times when you all.just need advice to get to the next step. We believe in them and can’t wait to see what their futures hold. Once a Mustang, always a Mustang!

Goodbye Mustangs
Future Buccaneers
I am thrilled to move up with you to middle school. There are many great things about HBMS that I know you will come to love. We have been busy working on the master schedule to provide so many electives and choices. I have linked a few presentations, sites and forms below. Some contain information from before I was named principal. Just know, I am there with you!
I will share campus information and all the plans for fall as soon as they are determined. We have several special events planned. These dates are tentative until we know more about the health and safety expectations. I will communicate these dates and guidelines once finalized.
Can't wait for this new adventure with you!

Greetings Future Raiders
BCMS is wrapping things up this week, as distance learning comes to a close and I know all of my current and future Raiders are looking forward to the summer! We are already making plans for the 2020-2021 school year. At this time, we are still not sure of what school will look like in the fall, however, there are some things we would like for you to know as your child prepares to enter middle school.
1. Communication
Here at BCMS, I communicate with families through a weekly newsletter, published on Fridays. These newsletters are also posted on my website. As of now, we do not have your email address in our database but will be working with the technology department to allow you to receive correspondence from our school this coming June.
2. Summer Reading Lists
Our summer reading lists for incoming 6th graders, as well as 7th and 8th grade are published on our website. These reading lists are generated by our ELA Department teachers and are beneficial to keeping kids connected to learning over the summer.
3. PE and Dance Uniform Orders
Our Athletic and Dance Department will publish the uniform ordering process this coming Fall, in August, for our incoming Raiders. You do not need to purchase anything in advance and we will notify you when that process opens up online.
4. School Supplies
BCMS school supply ordering is online through a company called Sprouts and the information is listed on our website. You can also access this through this School Supply Link. Pre-Orders are due July 14th.
5. Beginning of Year Events
We will communicate all beginning-of-year events as we learn more about what school will look like in the fall. There are several traditional events we plan, but no final decision will be made until we know more about our return in August. We will certainly communicate with you as we receive updates from our district leadership team.
Have a wonderful summer and stay safe out there. We look forward to seeing everyone in the Fall.
