Principal's Message
Wow -
I can hardly believe we are inching away to the last day of school. This year, I have been deeply touched and inspired by seeing the way we have all come together.
THIS IS US! THIS IS FAMILY! WE ARE ONE! WE BELIEVE IN THE JLE MAGIC!
When the year started, we were alarmed at what we saw. Not only did the effects of COVID-19 leave our students reeling academically, but socially and emotionally, they just did not know how to function. But, it wasn't just the kids. It was us too. We were broken. We were scared. We too had taken a fall.
However, it's not the fall that determines your future, it is whether you stand up after you fall. Not only did we stand--we helped each other up. We stood hand in hand. We prayed and believed that we could, and so we did. Sometimes, all you need to heal is to trust and place your faith first.
I want to personally thank each and everyone of our staff, community, parents, and most of all students for making this an incredibly memorable year. Someway, somehow, through all of your spirits, we made it thru and Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary performed higher than EVER BEFORE. How does that it even happen in a pandemic? We scored an A in every domain for STAAR, our Climate & Culture survey remained the top in the district, our Student Survey was above the district, and our Parent Survey was one of the best!
YOU ARE JACK LOWE SR. ELEMENTARY... AND EXCELLENCE IS A STANDARD!
Here's to Jack! Hope we are making you proud sir!
Love always,
Sandra Barrios-Rojas & All of the A Team!

Drum Roll Please...2022-2023 THEME
Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary and Sam Tasby Middle School have a belief that we are "The place where the IMPOSSIBLE becomes POSSIBLE"
For that reason, we will be adopting the theme....
THE MAGIC KINGDOM
Yes, we are the Disney of Dallas ISD and we are proud! We are where the magic happens.
Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary will remain with its halls divided into countries/regions/continents and due to the short intersession summer we have, Marcus is going to let us keep some of our decor up in classrooms and hallways. NOT ALL BUT SOME! Please make sure you spruce up your hallways and a bit of MAGIC as I still want the halls to an environment that is a point of pride for our scholars!
And another BIG announcement:
Our soon-to-be-new Superintendent, Dr. Elizalde, has agreed to come out and be one of our judges for the Hallway Competition! Let's show her how the magic of Lowe!
I'm excited to see what we come up with for next year!
Bell Schedule for Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary & Sam Tasby Middle School 22-23
Refugee Updates for the 2022-2023 School Year
The International Rescue Committee is projecting 800 arrivals over the next year. They project 60% of their clients will resettle in the Vickery Meadow area (DISD area), with the remaining 40% resettled in other parts of the town. Refugee Services of Texas is projecting 660 refugee arrivals over the next year. Most of their arrivals will resettle within the DISD area.Catholic Charities of Dallas is projecting about 1,000 arrivals within the next year.
Due to the challenges finding adequate housing in Dallas, it is difficult to predict with certanty the area of the town where new refugee arrivals will be placed.
July, August and September are expected to have the higher number of arrivals than previous several years. Generally, October and December are slower months for arrivals due to the holidays and October moratorium.
Approximately 35% of this number (estimated total 1,300 arrivals to be resettled within the DISD area in the next year) are school-age children. Based on projections of refugee arrivals by refugee resettlement agencies and their choice of settlement areas of the town, we expect about 300-400 new refugee students in school year 2022/2023.
The majority of them will be resettled in the Vickery Meadow area (Conrad HS's feeder pattern); small number in the area that is zoned to Bryan Adams HS's feeder pattern and other feeder patterns. (YAAAYYYY!!!)
This is only a projection as they have little advanced notice of when refugees arrive.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions in regards to the information listed above.
Thank you,
