A NOTE FROM 4TH GRADE
We hope you guys are doing well and also enjoying time with family. As we continue with distance learning, just remember what your teachers have taught you so far. Try your best, but work hard.
Due date: Paper materials are due every Friday. When you pick up new materials, you will drop the previous week in a bucket. You will have a week to complete the assignments. For online, take a picture of completed assignment and email to your child's homeroom teacher.

Assignment #2
Review Skill: Main Idea
After reading a nonfiction book of choice (remember to pick a just right book-reading level), identify the main idea of a chapter or of the whole book. Remember to write your response in complete sentences.
Finding main idea:
- Study introductions and text features
- Look for repeating words, images, and ideas
- Find smaller ideas in each section of text
Assignment #3
- Enjoy a book of your choice for 30 - 45 minutes in a comfy spot!
- Once you have finished your reading for the day, choose a question from the prompts below to answer as your reading response journal entry. Remember to stretch out your writing with details and include capital letters and the correct punctuation.
Writing
Narrative Writing -
- Plan a draft using a range of strategies such as brainstorming, freewriting, and mapping
Goal: to write at least 30 minutes a day
Ideas/strategies: Think of an important person, place or an object in your life. Jot ideas or moments about it. Think of first time/last time you did something.
-Generate as many ideas as you can
-Pick one to flash draft
- Journal write- History is happening right now! Write about your experiences over the last couple of weeks. Share your thoughts and feelings. How is homeschooling going? What do you like about it? What do you dislike?
Tips:
Graphic organizer: Where was it? Who was there? What happened?

Optional:
Students can take pictures regarding the topic using a phone/camera to make a picture list and send to the teacher if applicable.
Students can draw a map of the location marking special objects or people then labeling writing ideas.
