High School News
Dress Code: Here is our current dress code as outlined in our handbook. Please contact me with any questions.
Our values are:
• All students should be able to dress comfortably for school without fear of or actual unnecessary discipline or body shaming.
• All students and staff should understand that they are responsible for managing their own personal "distractions" without regulating individual students' clothing/self expression.
• Teachers can focus on teaching without the additional and often uncomfortable burden of dress code enforcement.
• Students should not face unnecessary barriers to school attendance. • Reasons for conflict and inconsistent discipline should be minimized whenever possible.
The dress code is designed to allow for student comfort while maintaining an environment appropriate for the educational setting.
Students Must Wear:*
• Shirt/top covering.
• Bottom: pants/sweatpants/shorts/skirt/dress/leggings • Shoes; activity-specific shoes requirements are permitted (for example for sports)
* High-school and outdoor courses that include attire as part of the curriculum (for example, professionalism, public speaking, and job readiness) may include assignment-specific dress,
The following clothing items will not be worn in school:
Any article or apparel which displays obscene or discriminatory words, pictures, or designs; any article that conveys a sexually suggestive remark, weapons, hate speech, an alcohol, tobacco and/or drug related message, images or language that creates a hostile or intimidating environment based on any protected class.
Underwear worn as outer garments.
Apparel that excessively exposes the midsection, or tops cut to expose the torso.
Pants, shorts or skirts that expose the private parts or buttock.
Note - Commenting about a student’s clothing in a sexual manner is considered sexual harassment and will be addressed by the administration. Disrespectful comments about clothing will also be addressed.
Exceptions will be made by administration for medical reasons, religious reasons, or other reasons.
In addition to these general guidelines, individual classes may have specific requirements, typically due to safety concerns, which should be spelled out in each course overview.
We are inviting students and faculty interested in reviewing and updating the dress code to join us in doing so. We are forming a committee.
Picture Day:
Grades 6-12

You can order ahead of time by logging onto lifetouch.com and use the code EVTDBMN9F.

Moving the WSESU Vision Forward
We are looking for interested WSESU community members who would like to help us “Move the Vision Forward” for our school system. This work will be an extension of the strategic planning work that was completed in 2020 by a group of community members, students, staff, and board members.
The focus of our work this year will be to make the developed focus of the strategic plan more explicit and take it to the next level of understanding by clarifying the vision statement that is embedded in it. We also plan to bring the realities of education for today’s youth together with the strategic plan to make education meaningful, relevant, and authentic. We need your voice to bring it all together.
You can find the details of the meetings below.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the google form that is attached below. Meetings will be in-person and, due to the nature of small group discussion, will not be offered in a hybrid mode.
