DISTRICT HOLIDAY CARD
Congratulations to Cedar Hill High School's Mya Walker, who designed this year's Cedar Hill ISD Holiday Card. Thanks to Ms. Walker's talents, we have a card full of holiday cheer. It was an excellent competition, with many other scholars showcasing their artistic talent as well.
Sincerely,

Winter Break Deep Clean and Disinfection
The CHISD Maintenance and Operations Staff is fully staffed for the first time this semester! With the additional staff, we are able to complete a deep clean for every classroom and campus over the winter break. This preventative measure will help combat the flu, COVID-19 and other illnesses that are common during the winter months.
Thank you to the Human Resources staff for their work on filling vacancies, and kudos to the Maintenance an Operations staff for their work over the break.
SAFELonghorn Reminder - Flu Season is Here!
What is the Flu?
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. Flu viruses cause illness, hospital stays, and deaths in the United States each year.
Flu illness can vary from mild to severe. While flu can be serious even in kids who are healthy, it can be especially dangerous for young children and children of any age who have certain chronic health conditions. Children younger than 5 years old–especially those younger than 2–are at higher risk of developing serious flu-related complications. Children of any age with certain chronic health conditions like asthma and diabetes are also at higher risk.
Flu Symptoms & When to Stay Home
If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms below, please keep them home from school and contact your physician.
- Fever or feeling feverish/chills
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Muscle or body aches
- Headaches
- Fatigue (tiredness)
- Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
- It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.
If your child becomes sick with flu illness, the Center of Disease Control recommends they staying home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone and symptoms have improved or resolved. Remember, the fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine. A fever is defined as 100°F (37.8°C)* or higher.
