Windsor School PreK-12, February 3, 2023
Dear Parents & Guardians,
We hope you are staying warm during this cold snap. As you may have heard, our state testing is moving away from the SBAC testing. It has been a slow roll out. The new assessment is called VTCAP. We will provide information as we have it. Stay tuned.
Also a reminder that the school day begins @ 7:50am, Grades 6-12, and 8:00am for elementary students with supervision starting on the playground or elementary gym (for weather days) at 7:40am. We thank you all for your help to ensure a smooth and timely start to the academic day.
The junior prom committee is holding a Valentine's Fundraiser. Please see below.

Well I think we can all agree that Winter is here! Especially this morning... With the return of snow so begins our elementary school ski program at Ascutney Outdoors! (pictures above!) Our team with the help of student leaders is also working on engaging options for our students on campus as well! Look for some new pictures and details soon!

Middle School News
This week our amazing students lined the hallways again for their monthly student recognition. Students recognized walk the hallway filled with high fives from their peers! Congratulations to Noah Jones, Abagail Braley, and Grace Blanchard for their efforts and dedication to their studies this month.
We are thankful for all of our student leaders. Currently, some MS representatives are leading the planning efforts for our upcoming Middle School Winter Carnival alongside Mr. Pooler, our Leader In ME Lighthouse Team Leader. We are looking forward to a day filled with fun prior to our February vacation.

The Gilman Foundation created this scholarship to promote academic growth and achievement in order to foster greater individual earning power and a skilled labor force. Recipients are selected by an independent selection committee not comprised of Gilman Foundation Board members. Recipients will be notified at high school graduation ceremonies.
Eligibility: • Vermont residency not required • Be a current high school senior who will graduate from one of the following Orange County or Windsor County high schools: Blue Mountain Union High School, Green Mountain Union High School, Hartford High School, Mid Vermont Christian School, Oxbow High School, Randolph Union High School, Sharon Academy, Springfield High School, Thetford Academy, White River Valley High School, Williamstown Middle High School, Windsor High School, or Woodstock Union High School
• Seek a certificate or an undergraduate degree • Enroll full time • Demonstrate financial need • Demonstrate school/community involvement • Attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding (Pell grants, federal Direct loans) Required documents: Unified Scholarship Application, FAFSA, one recommendation letter #1 (non-relative), and essay #1 (general essay) Renewability: May be renewable for up to three additional years if continuously enrolled full time.
Amount: Approximately 75 scholarships up to $6,000 each Selection: Financial need, recommendation letter, and essay Estimated applicants: 246 Estimated awards: 62
Prom Committee Fundraiser
Valentine's day is right around the corner. Be sweet and send some roses to your valentine. The prom committee is selling roses (bouquets and singles) for Valentine's day. Flowers will be delivered during the school day on February 10th and will also be available for pick up during that time.

Hiring Substitute Teachers
Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union is currently looking for substitute teachers to work at our Hartland, Weathersfield, and Mount Ascutney School Districts. Substitutes would be responsible for carrying out sub plans for students in grades PK-12 and communicating with the absent teacher any feedback from the day. Interested candidates should fill out an application and/or submit their resume to Teena Canfield, HR Director at teena.canfield@wsesu.net.
