Dear Families,


Welcome to the new school year! While it may look a bit different this year, we will still make it great! We hope you enjoyed your break and that your family is healthy!


Below you will find quite a bit of important information. After reading, please let us know if you have any additional questions. We would ask that you please have patience as we are all muddling through murky waters. It will take a few weeks for everyone to truly get in the groove of things. Most importantly, know that your child's health and well-being are our number one priorities.


We are excited to see our students again. It's been a long five months and we certainly miss those smiling faces!

FAQs

When does school start?

School is scheduled to open on August 31st. The amended calendar is posted on our website (www.oasiselementarynorth.net).


Can I walk my Kindergarten student to class?

Unfortunately, we cannot allow you to enter the building at this time. You are able to walk your student to the front of the building on the 1st day of school. Please be sure to park at Jim Jeffers as visitors may not park on campus during drop off and pick up times.

You will stop at a temperature check station. At this point, your student will enter the building and staff members will guide he/she to the correct classroom. *We ask that you social distance from other families at all times.


You may also use the back carline and your student will be guided to his/her classroom by a staff member once a temperature check has been completed.


What is the plan if a student is diagnosed with COVID-19?

Please read the information provided on our website (COVID-19 tab at the top of the page). The updated illness policy has been posted.


Will OEN continue with the plan for temperature checks?

Yes, students will have their temperatures checked when they exit their vehicle (please have your student(s) stay in the vehicle until the temperature check is completed) or the bus. Also, students who walk will have their temperatures checked at the front of the building.


What is the mask policy?

Students and staff will be required to wear masks at all times, when they are unable to social distance. If a student does not have a mask, he/she will be given one. Students will not wear masks outside during recess or pe, and not when eating lunch. Please be sure that your student has at least 2 masks each day. Placing masks on a lanyard will be very helpful. *If a student's mask becomes soiled or unusable, the teacher will provide a disposable mask.


Do the masks have to be a solid color?

At the elementary level, face coverings may be any color and may also have designs on them such as characters, superheroes, sports teams, etc. Face coverings with slogans or advertising, which, by its controversial or obscene nature, disrupts the educational setting, is prohibited. Additionally, face coverings which are determined to be a distraction to the educational process, will not be allowed. Our PTO is also selling masks that have our school logo printed on them.


Is the school cleaning daily?

Our school is being sanitized/cleaned consistently. We have purchased additional wipes/sanitizer for every classroom to be used throughout the day. Please read our opening plan (posted on our website) for detailed information. Your child's safety is our number one priority.


Have Drop off and Pick Up procedures changed?

Good news - construction has finally ended after two years! Our carline procedures will stay the same EXCEPT that 1st grade students will be released (afternoon pickup) in the front of the school this year. The first few weeks are always a challenge and, with temperature checks occurring, we expect there will be delays. We ask you to PLEASE BE PATIENT. School maps are located in your student folder.


Will breakfast/lunch still be served?

Absolutely! However, breakfast will be grab and go. Students will eat in their classrooms. Lunch procedures will remain the same, but we will practice social distancing. Home Connect and In-Person lunch menus are on our website under News & Announcements.


How do I keep up with everything that's happening at OEN?

There are several avenues of communication used by OEN. You can find all information posted on our website. We also have a school and a PTO Facebook page that we encourage you to follow.

Uniforms for 2020-2021

We are officially Oasis Elementary North (OEN). Our school colors have NOT changed. Students are not required to purchase new uniforms for the upcoming school year (don't forget masks). We are using two companies this year: Applestitch and Sallee. Click on the links below for details:

Home Connect Students are encouraged to wear a school uniform shirt. Dress for success!

Clinic/Medical Information

Please complete the Medical Health Statement and return to school if your student has a medical issue that we need make note of. If your child will need to take medication while at school, please complete the Medical Administration form and return to school. Medication forms must be completed and turned in yearly.

Chromebook/Packet Pick Ups

Chromebook and Packets have been distributed. If you have not picked up either or both of these, please contact the school immediately.

Our School is Using ParentSquare!

We are excited to let you know that this year we’ll be using ParentSquare to communicate with you at the school, and in your classrooms and groups. ParentSquare provides a simple and safe way for everyone at school to connect.


With ParentSquare you’ll be able to:

Invitations to join ParentSquare will be sent to the email address listed under the primary contact in Focus. Please click the link to activate your account (check your junk mail, some invites have may end up there). It takes less than a minute to get started!


You can use ParentSquare on any device. You can download the free mobile app for Android or iOS and you can also use it from a computer at: www.parentsquare.com. Your login is the email address listed under the first contact in Focus, or your primary contact phone number.

Please note, at OEN, the grade level listed for your child may be the prior grade level. This will be corrected.

FOCUS

Have you registered your family on the FOCUS Parent Portal? This is the portal that provides parents a real-time view of their child's assignment grades, attendance information, current grade level averages in all classes, etc. See the link below for directions:

INTERNET - Home Connect

If the school has an internet issue, please know that we will address the problem immediately. If connection is lost, please have your student take a break and continue to try to log back online. If the issue is on your end, please call the front office so that teachers can be made aware.
