Benefit for St. Baldrick's

Student Council is raising money to donate to St. Baldrick’s to help them with their mission of raising funds to help find cures for childhood cancer. Our goal this year is $2,500. If your family is able to donate, please send the money to school in an envelope with your child’s name, teacher and amount enclosed. When we reach our goal, the top earner will get to shave Mr. McDowell’s head at an assembly. The second top earner will get to shave Mr. Vick’s head and the third top winner gets to decide what color Mr. Norris will dye his hair.

In addition to flat denotations, there is also two estimation jars at the front desk. For 25 cents a guess students can guess how many Starburst are in a jar or the weight of a jar of Jolly Ranchers. Whomever gets closest to the actual amount of Starbursts will win the entire jar. Whomever wins the closest estimate for the Jolly Rancher’s weight will choose what color to dye Mrs. Tretten’s hair. All proceeds will also go to St. Baldrick’s.

Thank you all for your support of Student Council and St. Baldrick’s!!

Family Liaison Information

Dear Meadow Point Families,

Happy New Year! I would like to just take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Joei Sayers I am the school's new Family/Community Liaison. I am a Grizzly parent as well. It is my job to help families in our school community get involved by volunteering whether at the school or at a school function as well as connecting you with resources available to you in our community. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, ideas or concerns that I can help you with to make Meadow Point Grizzly Great.

Phone: 720-886-8655 Email: Jsayers@cherrycreekschools.org

Meadow Point can really thrive when parents and guardians in the community get involved. Here are a few ways you can help out.

Teachers sometimes need help in the class as well as cutting and sorting papers for classroom projects. We have many functions throughout the year where an hour or two of your time can make a huge difference, for instance our school carnival, fun run, field day, school dances etc.

Our PTCO is also a great way to get involved. The meetings are usually one hour once or twice a month you can sit in and listen to what is going on in the Meadow Point school community and give us your feedback.

Book Nook

A BIG Thank You to GE Johnson Construction CO. for their donation of our book nook located in the foyer at the front entrance of the school. So feel free to take a book, borrow a book or leave a book. If you have some extra books lying around that you would like to donate please contact Joei Sayers here at the school.

Get ready for Cherry Creek Reads

Grab a new book or an old favorite and get ready to read! The Cherry Creek School District will celebrate the joy of reading during the first-ever Cherry Creek Reads Week, coming up March 11-15.

Across the district, students, parents, teachers, staff, friends and family members will try to read for 66 minutes or more during Cherry Creek Reads Week. That represents one minute for every Cherry Creek school. The goal is simple: to create a community of readers and foster a lifelong love of reading.

The theme for the week is “Read Together, Wonder Together,” and is based on the book Out of Wonder, Poems about Poets by Kwame Alexander, a Newberry Award-winning author. He and fellow poets Chris Colderley and Marjory Wentworth share original poems that pay tribute to twenty famous poets, including Emily Dickinson, Billy Collins and Terrance Hayes.

Here at Meadow Point, we’ll enjoy some special events during Cherry Creek Reads Week, including

1) Support the theme during March 11-15 of “Read Together, Wonder Together” and use the "One Book" title: Out of Wonder by Kwame Alexander with your students.

2) Commit personally to reading 66 minutes (1 minute for each CCSD school) and encourage ALL staff and students to read for 66 minutes during this week.

3) Commit to filling out "Currently Reading, Just Finished Reading" signs and posting them outside classrooms/offices.

Parents are also encouraged to read with their children after school and have fun dinner table-discussions about the books each family member is reading.

Happy Reading!
