PRAIRIE POST
October 18, 2019
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Families,
Our Prairie community has experienced several fun events this week! The dance on Saturday was a huge hit with our families and students. There were lots of creative costumes, as well as creative dance moves. Fun was had by all. Thank you to our PTA for putting on this awesome event!
On Wednesday I had the opportunity to watch some of our fifth-grade students run in the district cross country meet. All of our runners did a fantastic job! Shout out to Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Booth for coaching the team. Thank you for your commitment to our students!
In order to keep all of our students and families safe at arrival and dismissal time, please be mindful of the following expectations:
- The parking lots and drive-through in front of the school are for busses and staff only.
- Students who walk home should walk around the north side of the school by the playground and cross with the crossing guard. No students should walk through the tennis court parking lot area.
- Pay close attention to parking street signs to ensure that you are parked in an area where parking is permitted.
It's hard to believe that we're over halfway through October! As we continue to get closer to the end of our first trimester, please review this information on our elementary report cards from Melissa Yow, our Director of Elementary Teaching & Learning: Elementary Report Card Parent Letter.
Have a great weekend!

Mr. Haynes:
This is my 10th year of teaching and my 9th year here at Prairie. Teaching is a second career for me after working in finance and real estate for 6 years after graduating from UW-Madison. Go Badgers! I love getting to know new kids every year and helping them grow to their fullest potential! There is nothing more gratifying than knowing I positively affect lives each and every day. My wonderful wife, Megan, and I have a 21 month old daughter at home named Lily and we have another baby on the way, due November 2nd. We can't wait to find out if we will have another daughter or a son!

Art to Remember
The personalized AtR order forms will be coming home early next week. Please take a moment to look at your child's work as it would look printed on a variety of objects. Students worked very hard on their artwork for this fundraiser and are proud to show it off. You can order and pay online or fill out the form and return it with check/cash to Prairie. Items will be delivered in plenty of time for Holiday gift giving!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email Mrs. Anderson, manderso@waukesha.k12.wi.us
Christmas Clearing Council
It is the time of year to distribute Christmas Clearing Council applications! For those who do not know, the Christmas Clearing Council (CCC) helps provide Christmas gifts for families who may struggle to afford gifts for their children. It is an awesome program that many families utilize each year. There are a few qualifications: you must be a Waukesha County resident AND your child must be eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch and/or meet the household income eligibility requirements. Please feel free to fill out the application (one per family), and send back to Mr. Endsley or the Prairie Office.
Applications are DUE Friday November 15, 2019.

You can also find paper copies of the application in the Prairie Office.
5th Grade Cross Country Run
The 2019 Cross Country season has now ended at Prairie. This year we had 17 5th grade Boys & Girls train and represent Prairie at the All-City Run on Wednesday, October 16th. Student Athletes put in many miles at practice over the course of the last month, with Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Booth and Mr. Egli. Even though we had a smaller team this year, they represented Prairie VERY well. All runners took home either a trophy, medal or ribbon. It was such an exciting meet to watch. We are still waiting for the team results, but should know soon. Congratulations to all runners and a big thank you to all parents who rearranged their schedules to accommodate practice pick ups. Hopefully runners discovered a new talent and this event will help spark interest in the Middle School Cross Country program.
