Student At Home Learning Expectations
The COVID-19 closure and stay at home order has impacted all of us. We do not want school to be an additional burden on families, but we do want to continue to provide students with the opportunity to learn and grow.
Each day, students will be provided with learning activities in reading, writing, and math, and have weekly learning activities for Music, Art, and PE. The goal is to continue to provide students with the opportunity to continue to learn throughout the school closure.
Ideally, we would like all students to complete as much of the assigned work as possible. This will provide students with the best opportunity to continue their learning, even from home. However, we recognize that every household situation is different. We ask that you do the best you can and to communicate regularly with the classroom teacher about what works best for your family. If you are finding that you are not able to keep up with the assignments, or your family is not able to access them regularly, please let us know so that other options can be developed or assigned work can be prioritized to better meet your needs.
We appreciate your efforts and partnership as we navigate the COVID-19 closure and its impact. As always, if you have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or Mr. Busch. THANK YOU!
Student Attendance During School Closure
Families, daily attendance is taken each day during our school closure / at home learning. We take attendance to monitor student engagement and gauge how we can best support learning from home.
Attendance is based on student participation and/or contact with the teacher. A few examples would include:
Student activity in online applications, such as Dreambox, or RazKids
Interactions on WebEx, or Google Classroom
Submission of student work via Google Classroom or other modes
Parent contacts via email, phone call or message
Weekly STAY WELL Tip from Mrs. Gosling
Create a weekday routine - having a schedule can bring purpose and calm to the whole family. Write down a loose schedule for the day on a piece of paper, even if there are only a few items on it. Cross off items as they are finished. Don’t forget to include breaks for movement, time outside, fun, and a bite to eat!

Waukesha School District Parent Resources
The School District of Waukesha website has ongoing updates related to COVID 19. The site also includes helpful links for technology logins, Apps, and general troubleshooting.
Internet Access
Here are some resources being offered across the country, depending on your provider:
Spectrum: Will offer free access to broadband for 60 days to households with K-12 and / or college students. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
AT&T: Removing data caps associated with their wireless and wired connections (see “Customer Offers”)
Comcast: Increases access and speeds to their Internet Essentials Program ($10 / month broadband); new families get 60 days free.
T-mobile: Hotspot loan programs made available to K-12 districts ($20 / month for unlimited data; $0 device).
Utilities
Utilities temporarily can’t be disconnected: “the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) directed water, electric, and natural gas utilities to cease disconnecting residential service for nonpayment until the state public health emergency has been lifted. Additionally, utilities must make reasonable attempts to reconnect service to an occupied dwelling that has been disconnected.”
