Remember, next Monday, 1/16, is a staff and student holiday. Enjoy your 3 day weekend!
From the Library
Reading Challenge- From Jan. 1 to Jan. 31, Larkspur is participating in “All the Feels,” a Winter Reading Challenge sponsored by Beanstack. We challenge our school community to read at least 10,000 minutes during the month and keep track of their reading on our Beanstack site. Students will need to go to Launchpad at launchpad.classlink.com/leander, sign in, and then click on the Beanstack logo. Another option is to download the Beanstack mobile app. Students sign in on Launchpad is lastname_studentID (only first 8 letters of last name- for example Mrs. Bresnehen's would be bresnehe_999999).
Thousands of other libraries and schools across the nation are joining in too, for a chance at winning cash prizes for their community. Happy reading, Larkspur!
Bluebonnet Reader Reminder- Students in 3rd-5th grade interested in being a Texas Bluebonnet Reader have until the end of the month (Jan. 31st) to read at least 5 of the Texas Bluebonnet Award List books and to log them on Beanstack. Bluebonnet Readers will get to vote for the nominee they want to win the Texas Bluebonnet Award. They will also be added to our Wall of Fame, be invited to a celebration event, and be eligible to be chosen for the Larkspur Battle of the Bluebonnet team (to be announced early February). Let Mrs. Bresnehen know if you have any questions!

Instructional Materials Selection Communication
This spring, Leander ISD will consider/adopt new instructional resources for six courses:
American Sign Language I-IV
Chinese I-IV
AP US History
AP Calculus AB and BC
African-American Studies
Mexican-American Studies
Teachers who teach each of these courses will have opportunities to provide feedback through their content area coordinators. We will kick off our community preview period during the board meeting on January 12th with opportunities for board members, staff, and community members to look at hard copies of resources, access online materials, and provide their feedback via a website. The Instructional Materials Selection Process website will be available from Jan 12th- Feb 17th where community members can preview online materials and provide feedback. We will also have in-person viewing opportunities available Jan 17th-Feb 17th at CPHS & Central Office for community members to stop by one of our buildings during business hours to look at hard copies of textbooks/resources, access online materials, and provide feedback.
We have committed to our board of trustees to thoroughly communicate these feedback opportunities through district and campus channels. Please use the draft communication provided below to communicate with your campus community by Friday, January 13th about the instructional resources review process and the opportunities for feedback (campus newsletter, email to Site-Based Committee & PTA, etc.). Please feel free to make changes to the draft message to best meet the needs of your community!
