October 2018
Falling Ahead
Thank you to everyone for such a positive and exciting first two months of school. We are looking forward to keeping this momentum going as we slide into the holiday season!
Looking For Veterans
Any veterans interested in attending, please contact Chris Ruwell at cruwell@mvsdpride.org. Refreshments will be available beginning at 8:30 AM in the MVMS cafeteria. We hope to see you there so we can recognize your service and show our appreciation!
School Alerts
It's hard to believe we are already thinking about snow days and blizzard bags, but we want to make sure everyone is aware and comfortable with our new school notification protocol. Our automated school alerts for delays or cancellations will be coming through our Alma system. If you did not receive a phone call or text message when we tested the system on October 25th, please contact the main office. We will continue to update our various social media platforms as well as WMUR in the event of a delay or cancellation; however, the Alma alert message will be our most direct form of notification.
This year, we have three blizzard bags to use if necessary. The first snow day will not be a blizzard bag day. On following snow days, the superintendent will determine the appropriateness of calling a blizzard bag day depending on the timing and severity of the storm.
Please contact the school if you have any questions on the notification process.
Cyber Robotics Coding Comptetion
In case you haven't heard the buzz, MVMS is competing in the state-wide Cyber Robotics Coding Competition (CRCC). Across the state, schools are working together as teams to accumulate points in order to earn a spot in the finals at UNH on Saturday, December 15th.
Our team, MVMS Pride, is currently in 5th place out of 34 NH schools. We have scored over 330, 000 points and our top 20 coders alone have completed nearly 800 missions. The bootcamp round ends on November 4th, and the qualifying round runs from November 5-14th.
Students who have not yet joined are still able to do so by going to crcc.gocoderz.com and joining our class (MVSpride is the class code). For more information or help getting started, students should come see Mrs. Searah in the library media center.
Congratulations to Mrs. Searah for winning the social media contest portion of the coding competition. The contest asked schools to Tweet out a picture of their studetns while coding, using the hashtag #crccforall. Mrs. Searah's efforts won the school ten t-shirts as well as a personal visit from CRCC staff ! See below for the award winning Tweet!
