Library News
Geneva School of Boerne - Vol. I
Purpose
This quarterly newsletter is intended to keep you apprised of all the wonderful events and news going on in the Geneva Library! It will also serve to share with teachers and parents great ideas for books and inform you of the things your students are learning in the library.
A little about your Librarian!
Mrs. Patti grew up loving to read, but she did not know she would become a librarian until she came to Geneva School of Boerne! After moving to Boerne from Dallas and enrolling her boys at school, she began volunteering in the library and immediately fell in love with it! After serving under the direction of Mrs. Cindy Fowler (one of the school founders and first Librarian) for several years and Mrs. Fowler deciding to retire, Mrs. Patti began her Geneva career as Librarian. She is married to Steve, has two boys, Samuel & Nicholas (8th and 11th grade), and is in the House of Chaucer! This is her 7th year as Geneva Librarian and when she is not reading, she is antiquing, gardening, traveling and attending motorsports events!
Your Library
The Geneva School of Boerne Library opened in 2004 when Geneva moved to this location from St. John's Lutheran. It has mainly served Kindergarten - 5th grade for its 12 years. It was originally located between the Administration Office and Logic School, however, last year it was moved to the parking lot to make way for the new Grammar School K-2nd grade classrooms. With the help of students, parents and the football team, the move went very quickly!
Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped make this year's Book Fair the best ever! We sold more than $17,000 worth of books/accessories and were able to purchase new furniture, rugs, and tables for the new grammar school classrooms!
Book Week - Jan 17-20, 2017
Geneva's Book Week is coming! We will celebrate a week of our love of reading! There will be a poster contest, decorated classroom doors, surprise guest readers, a book drive, and a classic character parade! Last year's Grand Champion poster winner was Sophia Baldwin, now a 6th grader! Make sure you attend the Book Week Assembly on Jan. 20!
What We Are Reading!
Each class is read to when they visit the library and our goal is to instill in them a love for the classics! Here is a sample of what each grade has been reading in the library:
