Message from the Headmaster:
Long-time Selwyn House Elementary Head, Kathy Funamoto, announces her retirement.
Kathy has decided that after 44 years as a teacher and administrator, it is time to step away and pursue other passions at the end of the current school year. Throughout this time, Kathy has been a caring, diligent, hard-working member of the community and she will be greatly missed. Her positive attitude, caring demeanor, and professionalism have helped many teachers develop and hone their teaching skills. At the same time, she has been a second mother to thousands of boys over the years helping them and their parents prepare for their secondary schooling. Kathy has taught me many things over the 33 years that we have worked together, first as a colleague, and then as an administrator. In fact, the very first Selwyn House trip that I went on was a grade 7 overnight trip to Ottawa back in 1990. Kathy and I were two of the teachers responsible for the trip and since that time she has been a role model to me. I would like to express my sincerest thanks for all that she has done in her time at Selwyn House. Congratulations Kathy! Our entire community joins in celebrating your outstanding career. The senior leadership team has begun the search for her successor.
