Complete High School Maize
December 2022/January 2023
A Note from Principal Hilliard
Hello, Wolfpack Family!
Can you believe it is the 1st of December?! The students worked so hard to make our annual Thanksgiving feast a success. We fed around 393 people. Everyone was overly impressed with our students as I knew they would be. They are a great group. The feast would also not be possible without our awesome staff. The time and effort they put into our students is incredible; I am so lucky to work with them.
Some important reminders:
- Our big service day project is Thursday, December 8 - it is such a fun day!
- Contracts are due on December 15. Students should have 2 contracts completed for each block class. By 3:00pm on Tuesday, December 20 students MUST have 3 contracts completed (2 for one block and one for the other) to be able to continue at CHSM in January. Students will want to complete 4 contracts in order to keep them on course for their expected graduation date.
- IF DONE, DON'T COME week - If your student has their required core contracts completed by Thursday, December 15 - they will bring a paper home for you to sign giving them permission to not be at school on the 19th and 20th and coming in at noon on the 21st. This is a fun incentive for the students who get their contracts completed when expected.
- Winter Celebration - we are bringing in a delicious lunch on Wednesday, December 21. We will also have some "special" guests. It is always a fun way to kick off the winter break! School is out at 3:00pm the week of the 19th!
- Attendance - continues to be VERY important. Attendance contracts will start on January 5th (our first day back) for any student who ends this 9 weeks with 1395 (or more) non-productive minutes. The students will bring the contract home to have it be signed by you with the requirements of the contract. There are SO many ways to make up non-productive time. (Coming in early in the mornings, attending Build Your Bank, turning a phone in all day, etc.)
- Thursday, January 5th - OUR FIRST DAY BACK AFTER BREAK! This will be a 3:00 day. We will be excited to see everyone!
- Site Council - Our next site council meeting will be Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 5:45pm - We meet at the Pizza Hut on North Maize Road. Any parents who are interested may attend. If you are interested, please let me know at mhilliard@usd266.com so we can save you a seat!
This newsletter will include information for both December and January along with the calendars for both months. The next newsletter will come out at the beginning of February. By the time the next newsletter comes out we will have brought in around 12 new students and graduated quite a few students as well. Since our last newsletter we celebrated the following graduates: Colton, Chris and Janae. We are so proud of them.
I hope you all have a wonderful break! Thank you for sharing your child with us!
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, February 9th at parent/teacher conferences; CHSM has had 100% parent participation the last 24 years! We can't wait to see you!! More information will be coming toward the end of January.
Thank you,
Michelle
