Richmond Hill Athletics News-March 2023
Message from the Athletic Director
Wildcat Nation,
The weather is getting warm, and that means spring sports are in full swing. If you get a chance, come out and check out some great competition, or at the least, just ride through campus on a busy Friday evening and park, get out and feel the positive buzz that is on campus with so many athletes and coaches competing for their school and town. It is a great feeling for sure. Soccer has started Region Play and is off to a blazing hot start with our Women Soccer having a 6-0 record, and the Men 5-1. The rest of our spring sports will be starting region play next week, and that brings a "new season" and even more excitement! Please join us as we start the completion of competing in our first year of the new region and 7A Athletics!

Go Wildcats!

The Region All Sports Standings is a report and ranking that captures all of the teams that compete within our region. Each sport is awarded points according to how they finished the season. 10 points for the Region Champion, 8 points for Region Runner-Up, etc. We are tied with Spring Sports to go, and looking forward to a strong Spring Semester finish.-Build The Hill!
Like many former standout baseball players and other student athletes, Jackson was a model for many generations to come. He was a great teammate, great student, and served his school and community...the definition of Build The Hill. Congrats to Jackson!
Bass Fishing
The bass fishing team has had a great start to the boat season. In the first state qualifying boat tournament, Branton Champion and Jackson Behringer placed second out of 250 boats, as the first of our teams to qualify for the State Tournament. The next tournament on Lake Oconee, Joey Moore and Jagger Monaco placed high enough to become our second team to qualify for the state tournament. The next tournament will be March 18th on West Point Lake. With two teams qualified we hope to add more teams at the last two boat tournaments of the season.
On the kayak trail our anglers have done great! In the first tournament the Wildcats were able to take home 4 of the top 6 places including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and big fish. In the second tournament the Wildcats took 4 of the top 5 including 1st and 3rd. The next kayak tournament is on Santee Cooper Lake on March 26th.
SNAP: Special Needs Athletic Program
Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat could not be truer with the new year kickoff of SNAP, a Special Needs Athletic Program. Both past and present Richmond Hill High School students have the opportunity to work together and enjoy extracurricular engagement. The energy, excitement, and fun is clearly evident during these weekly sessions here in our West Gym! With each month offering a different athletic focus, we are certainly looking forward to continuing to support fitness, health, and inclusivity!
USL Academy contracts allow Academy products at USL clubs to sign, train and compete in matches with professional senior teams without affecting their eligibility to play college soccer.
