In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), please know that our Diocesan School Office is working in conjunction with the state health department and local law enforcement to provide information and plans for our schools and parishes. The Coronavirus is receiving widespread attention in the media. At school, we want our students to understand the need to wash hands and clean their work surfaces, however, we do not want to create panic in our students. We will continue to pray for worldly needs and the sick.
At this point, the recommendations are for continuous hand washing, disinfecting surfaces, not sending students or teachers to school that have a fever, and monitoring Blair Oaks recommendations. If your family has traveled to a level 3, widespread contagion country, as established by the CDC (Italy, China, South Korea, or Iran), it must be reported to the school and self-quarantine for 14 days.
The Centers for Disease Control, https://www.cdc.gov/, has the most up-to-date information and facts concerning this ever evolving situation.
Please know that this situation is being monitored with the safety of our students and families in mind.
Please join the Pope in his intercession to Mary for those that are sick and for an end to the Virus.
Blessings,
Mrs. Angie Shelangoski

Read Across America (Week of March 16-20)
St. Stanislaus School will be celebrating Read Across America on a different week rather than
the usual 1 st week of March. We have a storyteller coming Friday, March 20, 2020, from MRRL, so we opted to move it to that week. There will be activities the students will be taking part in that week to help solidify their love of reading. The following is short description of each day.
Monday-Stu Co will explain the week to the students and each student will be given a book
mark. The students will be told that they need to have a book at school to read, because there
will be a special activity involving that book later in the week.
Tuesday-Story book walk and class discussions of the book will follow.
Wednesday-The students will participate in an activity that involves the book they have at
school.
Thursday-Older students will read books with their younger buddy class.
Friday-Students may dress up as a favorite story book character. They should be ready to tell us who the character is and from what book. The story teller will be here Friday afternoon from the library for grades k-5.
*Since we have the storyteller at 2:30 Friday afternoon, Stations of the Cross will be in the
morning with a time announced at a later time.
Home & School Association
Due to social media being updated more frequently and information placed in the STAR, we did not have our normal mid-year meeting. This newsletter serves to update you on what has happened since our last meeting and what is coming up in the future. If you haven't already, please like our Facebook page to help keep you informed of important information and events taking place.
October: Students in grades 3-8 participated in standardized testing. Home & School provided drinks for students in those grades after testing was completed.
November: Home & School sent letters to families who had not yet participated in the Opt Out at the beginning of the year. Families that had not paid the $60 were asked to pay the money or volunteer several different school events throughout the rest of the year. A few families have paid and volunteered. For those who have not, there are still several volunteer opportunities available or you can still pay the money. Please contact Crystal Miller for more information.
December: Home & School organized our first annual Winter Market. The place was busy throughout the duration of the event. All vendor spots were rented out (we had a couple cancel the day of due to illness). We are working to adjust a few technicalities for next year. We received several positive reviews from vendors and shoppers. Thank you for making it a huge success!
January: Catholic School's Week started with a mass and brunch. Home & School provided the refreshments. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our school and students. Also during CSW, we provided the teachers with a lunch from Madison's. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped cover the teachers' classrooms so they could all each together.
February: The officers met to discuss field day plans.
Upcoming Events: Home and School's next big event is Field Day. Field Day will take place on Thursday, May 14th. There will be many opportunities for students to have fun and enjoy the last days of school before summer break. We will need volunteers to help run various stations. Be on the look out for more information and volunteer opportunities.
Thank you all for your support and dedication to our school!
