My Child is Absent or Tardy…What Do I Do?
Please send in a written note as to why your child is absent on the day he/she returns.
Tardy’s affect instructional time and perfect attendance. The tardy bell rings at 8:25 a.m. Please make sure your child is in class prior to the tardy bell ringing. If your child is tardy an adult must walk into the office and sign the student in to school.
Daily Attendance
Arrival Time 8:00-8:25 a.m.
Tardy Bell 8:25 a.m.
Departure Times 3:05-3:20 p.m.
3:05 p.m. for car riders, parent pick-up in front of café, daycare vans, and Boys and Girls Club.
3:20 p.m. Bus Riders
Students must attend 3 ½ hours
of the school day to be counted present. If your child arrives after 8:25 a.m., you must come into the office and sign the student sign-in log for your child to go to class.
Students checking out before
11:45 a.m. are considered absent. Students leaving after 11:45 are recorded as an early checkout on their report card. Late entries & early checkouts affect perfect attendance.
Afternoon Transportation Changes CANNOT be made by telephone. All changes must be in writing prior to 1:00 p.m.
Please send a note to inform your child’s teacher as to where your child should go if a change is needed for a particular day.
Bus Notes must contain: bus #, address of drop off, parent signature & date.
Quality Instructional Time
Our goal is to protect instructional time for our students and avoid classroom interruptions. Parents are not allowed to the classroom during instructional time unless there is a scheduled parent conference. Parents can drop off items for students at the office and they will be delivered to the classroom. Office staff are NOT permitted to “call down” to the classroom during instructional time unless for a check out. Messages will be relayed to teachers during their break or lunch times. Thank you for your continued support.
Nurse's Corner
Parents often wonder…. How can I keep my kid healthy at school when other kids come to school sick? The American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC have several helpful suggestions that could help you.
1. Teach your child to cover their mouth when coughing and sneeze into their elbow.
2. Bath regularly and teach your child to wash their hands.
3. Eat a healthy breakfast and lunch and drink water.
4. Incorporate daily vitamins (consult your Dr. for questions).
5. SLEEP – Children should receive 8-10 hours each night!
6. Wash sheets and disinfect high traffic areas.
It is also advised that you keep your child home if they are sick. If they have a fever of 100.0 or greater, vomiting, or diarrhea, they have to be symptom free for 24 hours before they can return.
