FAREWELL TO THESE SUMMIT STAFF MEMBERS
As we end this year, there are some current Summit staff members who will be spending their last days as a Husky and we wanted to personally thank them:
- Ms. Dana Baker, one of our current kindergarten teachers, will be moving to North Carolina this summer to be closer to family. Dana will be teaching kindergarten next year in North Carolina.
- Mrs. Sherry Jenkel, our current music teacher, will be moving to the Marshall School District to be closer to her home near Madison (see note below)
- Mrs. Diana Palmisano, one of our current learning strategists, will be "retiring" from special education and her future plans are uncertain at this time.
- Karen Joy, one of our cooks in the kitchen, will be retiring after 19 years working in the kitchen at Summit. In addition Lisa Gross, another one of the cooks, will moving to a new position outside of our food service department.
As these staff members move on to new adventures, we wish them the best and hope that they fondly remember their time at Summit.
NOTE FROM MRS. JENKEL
Dear Summit Families,
At the end of the school year, I will be resigning as the music educator at Summit Elementary. I have accepted a full-time position with the Marshall School District. I will be teaching 5K through fourth grade at the Early Learning Center and the Elementary School. As some of you know, I have made the long commute to Oconomowoc from Sun Prairie for ten years. Because Marshall is only a fifteen minute commute, this will allow me to spend more time with my family.
I cannot thank you enough for the joy your children have given me in my five-year tenure at Summit. Working at this school has been an incredible experience, and I will always look back on my years here with fond memories. Thank you for the opportunity to share my love and passion for music with your children. I am excited to hear about all the amazing things they will do in the future.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Jenkel
PTO CARNIVAL WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!
SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
Mr. Stuckey works all summer. However, there are times he is at meetings or on vacation so you will not always find him at Summit. Should you need anything over the summer, you can always email him at stuckeyb@oasd.org.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Last week your child was introduced to our Summit Summer Reading Program. A “Can’t Stop the Reading” book backpack came home last week thanks to our PTO. In this backpack you should have found some information on setting summer reading goals and bringing back their Summer Reading Contract next September for a special treat.
In case you missed it, we shared our much anticipated Summer Reading Video with everyone last week. Feel free to watch it throughout the summer to keep your child motivated so they “Can’t Stop the Reading!”
Here is the link to our Summit Summer Reading Webpage which includes the video:
FREE SUMMER THEATER PROGRAM
The workshop will take place on July 22nd, 2017 at the Oconomowoc Arts Center. Sign in will be from 9:30am-10:00am, and the fun will begin shortly after!
- Instead of a fee for this workshop, we ask for a small donation to the Oconomowoc Food Pantry. These would include non-perishable food items (canned foods, cereal, etc,) or hygiene products (shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, etc.).
- It is also very important that parents come in with their child, as there will be a permission slip that will need to be signed. In addition we ask that all allergies or health related issues are mentioned as well, in case of an emergency.
- There will be a one hour lunch/recess. All students to bring a bagged lunch for the day. If your child is unable to do so, we will be able provide a lunch for them with notice ahead of time (see website link)
- The activities will end at 3:00pm with a pick up at that time.
- We are so excited to be hosting this event again this year! We all know that it will be such a fun time while also a great way to learn about theater!
