Self Care for Elementary Students
A healthy life for a child includes being able to be himself alone and enjoy that moment. This teaches your child balance in life.
For some children, they can struggle from being alone. However, this skill is needed because when they grow up they may face challenges which they need to overcome by themselves.
Set aside a certain hours of the week for your child to be in a low-stress situation to balance out over-stimulating screen environment.
This can be done through activities like meditating, yoga, or journaling. These type of activities gives your child the chance to ‘reset’ their mind and articulate their feelings
November is Native American Heritage Month
November Is...Native American Heritage Month!
Throughout the month, students will learn about indigenous people from North and South America through morning announcement fact sharing, school displays, assignments and presentations posted in their online classroom and in person lessons! We encourage any ESS family members to share their Native American heritage with us! Send an email to Ms. Butler with YOUR family´s story: cbutler@sheltonpublicschools.org
Veteran's Day-November 11
Dear Families,
Veteran’s Day is approaching on Wednesday, November 11, 2020!
It is going to look and feel very different this year since we are unable to have an ‘in person’ assembly. However, we are still going to try our best to recognize and honor the Veterans that are in our ESS community.
We are working on a ‘virtual type’ assembly to be able to share with the students and families on 11/11. As part of that, we are looking for pictures or videos of Veterans! If you know someone (family member or friend) who is serving or has served in the military, please send us their picture or a short video (1-2 minutes).
PICTURES: Please take a picture and include a short description (Name, Military branch, Years of service, relationship to ESS student).
VIDEOS: Please take the video in LANDSCAPE mode and have the veteran introduce themself and share what they would like the students to know.
Please attach either picture or video in an email and send to: kheidemann@sheltonpublicschools.org
Thank you,
The Veterans Day Committee
