Hoopla - a new service at the Glocester Libraries!
The Harmony Library is spearheading a new streaming service, Hoopla, that is being funded by a generous donation from our patrons, Betsey and David Kilmartin. We are proud to introduce Hoopla Digital to our Glocester patrons at the Glocester Manton Library and the Harmony Library on October 1st!
With Hoopla, you will have immediate access to: movies, full music albums, eBooks, eAudiobooks, TV episodes, comics, and graphic novels. Children's Programs
Crafts for the Community
Monday October 1 through Wednesday, October 31, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Glocester Manton Library, Age Level: Grades K-5
Children are invited to “drop in” to the Children’s Room to create a craft to brighten someone’s day. Each month, Ms. Nancy will pick an organization in our community or a surrounding town where the craft masterpieces will be sent. This will include nursing homes, children’s hospitals, and a senior center, for example. In October, we will be making pumpkin crafts for the Glocester Senior Center.
Creative Dance
Classes begin Monday, October 1, 4 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: 5-6 years old
Heritage Ballet presents their Creative Dance Community Series for children, ages 5 and 6. This 50-minute weekly class will include the basics of ballet with a healthy mix of creative dance done through popular children’s songs and freestyle dancing.
Pumpkin Mania
Wednesday, October 10, 4:30 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Grades: K-5
Pick a pumpkin and create your own Halloween masterpiece. A variety of art supplies including paint, tacky glue, googly eyes, tissue paper, yarn, etc. will be available.
Painting Pumpkins
Monday, October 22, 10:30 a.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: 2-5 years old
Join us for a fun morning as we select mini-pumpkins from Harmony Library’s “pumpkin patch” to paint. Children will be able to bring their painted pumpkin masterpiece home.
Graphic Novel Book Club
Thursday, October 25, 4 p.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: 7-11 years old
October’s graphic novel series’ selection is Goosebumps Graphx by R.L. Stine. Children can read any of the books in the series. Children will be encouraged to talk about the books, draw the characters, or discuss other great graphic novels. We will even snack on some spooky foods.
Teen Program
Homeschool Teen Meetup
Monday, October 15, 1:30 p.m., Harmony Library
Age Level: 12 years and up
Homeschooled teens are welcomed to join us at our first Homeschool Teen Meetup. This is a great opportunity to meet other teens, talk about homeschooling experiences, and socialize. Snacks will be provided, but please bring your favorite brain teaser to share.

Cookbook Club

October’s selection is The How Not to Die Cookbook: 100+ Recipes to Help Prevent and Reverse Disease by Michael Greger. If you would like to join, register online and then drop by the Harmony Library to pick up a copy of the book.
Tuesday Movie Matinee
Tuesday October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Tuesday Matinees offer new feature films on the big screen. Registration is not necessary and the movies are free. Light refreshments are served. Bring a friend! Visit our website, glocesterlibraries.org, for upcoming matinees.
Fearless Art Group

Each month, we explore different drawing challenges to spark our creativity and enhance our drawing skills. The topics of exploration are guided by the members. All levels of art experience are welcome. All materials will be provided.
Best Places for Kayaking and Canoeing in Rhode Island
Monday, October 15, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Chuck Horbert, Wilderness Tripping Coordinator of the Rhode Island Canoe & Kayak Association, will give a presentation on the best places to paddle in Rhode Island and nearby states. Come with your questions!
Glocester Libraries Walking Club – Fall Super Walk
Wednesday, October 17, 8 a.m., Steere Hill Parking Lot on Putnam Pike
The Walking Club will hold its second annual “Super Walk.” The “Super Walk” will be a little longer than the usual Walking Club outing – approximately five miles and 1.5 to 2 hours long. Visit the libraries’ website to register and learn about the hike’s route.
Writers' Support Group

Read and share your personal projects at this monthly meeting. This adult group is open to writers in all genres.
Crochet Group

Beginners and crocheters that are more advanced are invited to learn and share their experience in a comfortable room for crochet and conversation! Ashley Ledoux, an experienced crocheter, will teach beginners and be available for assistance and advice.
