MEA Online Parent Lounge
Thursday, December 10 / 5:00-6:00pm
Thank you to everyone who responded to the poll for the MEA Online Parent Lounge! There wasn't a time frame that worked for everyone but we'll alternate between evenings and mornings to give everyone a chance to hopefully attend! Our first lounge is kicking off next Thursday, December 10 from 5-6pm! Zoom link to follow in the next Monday Message.
Like the in-person parent lounge, you can come and go if/when/as you can make it. The idea is that it will provide an opportunity for parents to drop in, even if just for a bit, to say hi or catch up.
If you'd like to provide your input on the timing for the next parent lounge, the poll will stay open for families to chime in.
MEA ART club holiday card project

Sincerely,
MEA Art Club

MEA Alumna seeks participants for research project
Sierra Ottilie-Kovelman (MEA alumna) is graduating this year from UCSD with a double major in Global Health and Psychology and is a research assistant in a child development lab at UC San Diego. When Sierra attended Mt. Everest Academy she enjoyed her classes on dissection, which led her in the direction of pursuing a health career. She was also inspired by her older brother, Danny Kovelman-Ottilie, who was an MEA valedictorian.
The UCSD child development lab is trying to learn more about child development and is looking for kids to interview in game-like tasks over Zoom. If your child is between the ages of 5 to 12 years and could participate in the study, here is the link for more information and to sign up.
Also, Sierra would be happy for families to contact her directly with additional questions at siottili@ucsd.edu

Sarah Cline wins 2 medal finals
Thank you to Sarah, grade 10, for sharing her exciting news and beautiful pictures!
I have been competing on our local county circuit for almost four years now and at the end of the year they have what is called "Champshow". At Champshow you earn the maximum amount of points and it's the last show where you can collect year end points. They also run medal finals which tests the riders skills over fences and on the flat. Champshow could not run this year due to COVID, however they still did medal finals. I found a horse to ride named Zeitlos who I had never ridden previous to my warm up day, two days before the big medal final. Mother nature was definitely testing how well I could ride an unusual horse as we sat in wind gusts of 40mph+ and harsh downpours of rain. However, I remained confident in myself and was the only one to put down two solid rounds in the 3'3 medal and take the win by over 20 points. I was also second in the 3ft medal out of 22 and moved up three places after the third phase of competition in that division. I will forever be grateful to end my county career on that note.

No Place for Hate

We are starting an ADL team at MEA to try and fight any hate going on, and bring students together. Anyone in 6th-12th grade is more than welcome!!
