From the Librarian's Desk: Residential school history is a difficult subject to teach kids, but it's something that all Canadians should know – so how do we do it? When We Were Alone is a picture book that offers an age-appropriate way to introduce the subject to young children. David A. Robertson, who wrote the book, is a Swampy Cree author and graphic novelist living in Winnipeg. In this video, he shares how we, as teachers, parents and a community, can bring young people into the conversation about residential schools.
