A Note from Principal Hilliard
Hello Wolfpack!!
Hello December!! Wow, where did November go? There are many important reminders in this newsletter, but please know one of the most important is a change we are making to our attendance policy starting next term in January. Our attendance at CHSM has not gone as we have hoped so we will be implementing mandatory Build Your Bank on Fridays for students who acquire 1395 minutes of non-productive time. When a student is absent or non-productive for three days, that accounts for 1395 minutes. Of course our goal of staying below 930 minutes is still in place and is what we are hoping for. If a student is required to be in Build Your Bank and chooses not to attend there will be a meeting the following Monday to discuss their status at CHSM. ANY student is welcome to attend Build Your Bank on a voluntary basis...in fact, we encourage students to do this so they can build up time and have extra time to work on their contracts.
We will finally be celebrating our fundraiser incentive on Thursday, December 7 in the afternoon. The students will choose a movie and can be picked up or head home from the Warren at the conclusion. A note will be going home this week for you to sign so you know the end time of their movie and when they should be picked up or when they may get home that day. Most movies are over between 3:15 and 3:45. (Part of the incentive was that they be allowed to leave after their movie.) New students who weren't able to participate along with "old" students who couldn't at the time, are encouraged to bring money to donate like the "old" students did...BUT...we had a recent graduate who used her special privilege to allow ALL students to go regardless of donation. This is a first for us at CHSM - thank you so much, Emma!
We would like to ask ALL students to bring 2 snack items for our snack closet in January. Our supply has really been depleted. If everyone could bring a pack of Ramen or Mac-n-Cheese and a box of granola bars we would be set for the year! The students really appreciate this!
On a positive note, our Thanksgiving Feast was a huge success; thank you to everyone who attended. I was SO proud of our students. They looked amazing and did such an incredible job serving our guests. We have had so many compliments with people who continue to be impressed by our incredible kids. November complete citizens - Xavier and Finley! Aiden was our student of the month for responsibility. Way to represent CHSM.
Important Reminders:
Attendance - non-productive time resets in January - everyone gets a fresh start! Mandatory Build Your Bank once a student reaches 1395 minutes of non-productive time
