"Making a Difference in the Middle"
Dear Parent, Guardian, and Families
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I welcome you to Platteville Middle School, the Home of the Hillmen! Our staff has been very busy preparing for the opening of school and we anxiously await the arrival of the students.
One of the biggest changes you and your child will notice will be the implementation of our PBIS (Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports) Program. The program focuses on clearly communicating and teaching the expected behaviors in all areas of the school. Through out the year, we will be acknowledging those students exhibiting the positive behaviors and re-teaching those students that are not acting appropriately.
We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and I want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibility. Here is what you can expect from us (this is taken from our mission statement).
- Educators knowledgeable about and committed to young adolescents
- A balanced curriculum based on student developmental needs
- Comprehensive advising and counseling
- Evaluation procedures in keeping with the nature of young adolescents
- Cooperative planning
- Positive school climate
The Platteville Middle School staff is committed to the idea that it is critical to incorporate these beliefs into our every day relationships with students because at Platteville Middle School "The Kids Come First".
Sincerely,
Jason Julius
Principal, Platteville Middle School
Thank You!!
Mrs. Peggy Klein was busy making sure all of the schedules and forms were ready for staff and students as well.
New Staff and New Roles
Platteville Middle School has a long history of educational excellence and it has been founded on the people who have and continue to work here. We have an excellent staff and have added valuable new teachers as well. Leslie Chalfant will be a new 5th Grade Teacher. Mrs. Chalfant comes from the Boone Community School District in Iowa where she taught 5th Grade Special Education. Lindsay Neal will be a new Physical Education Teacher this year. Ms. Neal taught at Pleasant Hills, Missouri for 7 years at both the middle and high school levels. I am excited to welcome both of these individuals to the Platteville Middle School.
Along with some new faces, we have some familiar faces in different roles. Samantha Charles taught 1st Grade last year and will be moving to be a 4th Grade teacher. Mike Ferwerda was a 6th Grade teacher and now will be a 5th Grade Science teacher. Molly Jude was a 5th Grade teacher and will be a 6th Grade Reading and Language Arts teacher. Caitlin Rosemeyer and Sarah Droessler have switched grade levels once again. Mrs. Rosemeyer will now be teaching 8th Grade Reading and Language Arts and Ms. Droessler will be teaching 7th Grade Reading and Language Arts. With any transition come uncertainty, but I am certain these individuals will do a great job.
