MEA Band practicing for the holiday concert!
"How Full Is Your Bucket?"
For the next few weeks we will be focused on kindness. Each of us has an invisible bucket. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When it's empty, we feel awful. Yet most children (and many adults) don't realize the importance of having a full bucket throughout the day. This upcoming week, we will be reading the book, "How Full is Your Bucket" by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer during Library Time. The elementary staff at Mt Everest will be encouraging students to fill each other's buckets often and to be kind and encouraging to others. Look for the posters around school and think of ways you can fill others’ buckets at home!
Also, students "caught" in the act of kindness will receive special recognition!

Free Workshops for Families
Sponsored by the San Diego Unified School District
The SDUSD Parent Outreach and Engagement Department offers a variety of free workshops for families in our school district. They are designed to provide families with the necessary tools to support their children with reading, math and homework assignments and to strengthen parenting skills as children develop through the years.
Parents, please click here to see what workshops are offered and then let us know which ones you're interested in. ***** COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS *****
"Miracle on 34th Street"
For many people, the 1947 film “Miracle on 34th Street,” has maintained its popularity throughout the decades. Luckily for those who remember it (and those who have never seen it), the San Diego Musical Theatre’s version is onstage through Dec. 23 at the Horton Grand Theatre.
Julia, a sixth-grader at Mt. Everest Academy, has the lead role as Susan Walker, and the holiday classic will be adapted from the 1947 Lux Radio Hour Broadcast and staged with live, Foley effects and a score of holiday carols. The heartwarming plot whirls around a department store Santa who claims he’s the real Kris Kringle, and his case is taken all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. But wait! Can a miracle unfold when the belief of a little girl makes all the difference in what happens?

IF YOU GO: San Diego Musical Theatre’s “Miracle on 34th Street,” runs through Dec. 23 at the Horton Grand Theatre, 444 Fourth Ave., downtown. Tickets from $25. (858) 560-5740 or http://www.sdmt.org/

This is an amazing production, however, parental discretion is advised due to mature subject matter, loud music, and some intense scenes. Link to youtube trailer. Recommended for grades 6 and up.
