May schedule for testing
State and AP testing is coming soon! Please be sure to carefully review the special testing calendar for May that can be found here. Different grade levels test at different times and some grade levels have more tests than others. Please note that regular studygroup classes are cancelled when students are testing. Life skills and sexual education classes are also taking place for 8th, 9th, and 10th graders in May and we highly encourage you to have your students attend. Please see your child’s supervising teacher with questions regarding the May schedule.
Mt. Everest Mural
Have you heard that we will have a very large mural painted at the front of school? Students have been working in partnership with artists from Art Reach San Diego to design this beautiful new addition to our school. Everyone in the MEA community is invited to leave their mark (literally) on the walls of this fine institution! Sign up here to help paint during our community mural days!
What: Community Paint Days – MEA mural project
When: Friday April 26 and Monday April 29 from 11-3pm (Come for all or part of these days, but please sign up here so we have a rough estimate of how many people are coming each day.)
Yay for public art!
Oh, What a Show!
The Mt. Everest Academy Talent Showcase & Silent Auction was an evening of amazing entertainment! Thank you to all the performers, stage crew, silent auction donators, organizers, and audience for helping to create such a special evening!

Das Deutsche Kekse Festival
Link to the yummy "Keske Festival" photo gallery
The German Club led by Risa Schapiro, who is also a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon German Honor Society at MEA, organized a German Cookie Festival/Social – “Das 2019 MEA Kekse Festival” to promote the German language and culture.
The cookies were mostly German and Swiss specialties – recipes were translated from German during our Wednesday club meetings. As a special addition, Risa also baked a marble cake, and a butter almond cake, and Meredith Ausland brought an Apfel Strudel!
For a first time baking these cookies the students, and “some moms too” did an excellent job – as within about 20 minutes all cookies and cake had been consumed!
In order to have a cookie or a piece of cake you had to learn how to say a word or a short phrase in German – the club members prepared cards with the words and phrases on them and circled around during the festival teaching everyone! We’ll hopefully do it again next year.
