Project Newf Visits
Kermit and Fozzie are Newfoundland dogs. They visit schools all over the country with their owners. The purpose of these visits is to talk to children about Newfoundland dogs. Our visitors will talk with students about what service dogs are needed for and what therapy dogs do, and the difference between the two.
Our visitors will also read the book, "The Adventures of Kermit the Newf" Book 1 Dog Tales. They do a PowerPoint presentation of the book as it is being read to larger groups. They hold the book and show the pictures as it is being read to smaller groups.
After the story, they talk with children about being an author, why it's fun to read books, and encourage kids to write about their own life experiences.
The children are allowed to pet the dogs if they wish. Each student is also given a free book to take home and keep. The books have been "Pawtographed" by Kermit. The book's reading level is for 2nd and 3rd grade students, but the content is for all ages.
Some of our Dublin students have already received a book last year. These children are given a writing journal instead which has lined pages for writing stories and blank pages for drawing. It encourages children to be creative in their own way.
There is no cost to the school or parents for the presentation, books, or journals. This is amazing! We look forward to their visits throughout the week this week.
Thank you again Mrs. Barry for setting this up and bringing them to our school!
Student Count Day
This is a very important day for our schools. Our school funding is based on the number of students in our schools.
We ask that parents make sure all students are in attendance on Wednesday. Thank you for your help with this important day!

Mom & dad get to relax around the islands bonfire.
Haunted Halloween on Skull Island has always been about the little ones. Lately Halloween has evolved into an attraction for all ages, however the owners and operators of Skull Island Camp found very few opportunities in the evening that were age appropriate. Many cider mills and hay rides during the day were available but as soon as the sun set local events got very scary and gore related.
Haunted Halloween was started in 2010 to provide a young family fun (not too scary) atmosphere. The event became an immediate success. With motion detected ghosts on zip lines whizzing above visitors, spiders coming down on a cob web to say "boo," it provides a great time for the little ones. The haunted pirate trails and custom made games tailored for children while parents can relax around the roaring bonfire makes it an enjoyable, safe, and not too scary night out for all.
- Parking is available at Pontiac State Rec Beach.
- Follow the yellow lighted signs and go to the north fishing dock.
- This is an outdoor event, please dress warm or according to the weather.
- NO REFUNDS.

Print the form, complete the form, and send in with your money to our school office. We will also have hard copies of the this Ticket Order Form in our main office should you need one. Thank you.

Invisible Dad Program at Dublin
Dublin Elementary is ready to launch the Invisible Dad Program; a program to support children whose lunch account may be depleted on a particular day.
Click HERE to learn more about the program.
To keep this program running, we ask that you spread the word about the Invisible Dad program. You can share the link provided with different organizations, families, grandparents, etc., and encourage them to make a small donation to Dublin Elementary so this program remains strong.
Donations can be made by sending cash or checks (payable to Walled Lake Schools & in the memo write Invisible Dad ) to the main office at Dublin Elementary.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office staff. Thank you in advance for taking care of every student, every day!
Walled Lake Northern Homecoming
Many of our Dublin students will go to Walled Lake Northern High School.
This year, our Dublin students have been invited to participate in WLN's Homecoming Parade which will take place on Friday, October 20th. Students and parents will be able carry Dublin banners or signs, wear Dublin Spiritwear and march in the Homecoming Parade with the WLN Marching Band, King and Queen, cheerleaders, Poms team...etc.
This will be a fun night for our Dublin community. Please join us on Friday, October 20th at WLN's Homecoming game and parade, and show your Dublin and Northern spirit and pride!
Invisible Dad
Through the generosity of parent donations and the planning of a few dedicated people, we are thrilled to provide the Invisible Dad lunch program at Dublin Elementary.
Every day, in our own community and in our school, children are faced with a growing form of hunger: food insecurity. Not knowing where their next meal will come from, these children are not only faced with being hungry, studies have also shown these children can face more severe issues in the future. The Invisible Dad program hopes to change that by providing the funds necessary to make sure all children have access to a full meal at lunch.
These funds are not something you or your child have to ask for or apply to receive. These funds are available without question or judgment as children go through the line at lunch. Parents will be notified privately and confidentially if their child’s lunch is paid for by the Invisible Dad. Sometimes the situation is simple and the lunch account just needs to be refilled. We ask that you refill your account and perhaps consider donating back to the program. Sometimes the situation is more complex, the money just isn’t there and won’t be there for some time. In those cases, you and your child will not have to worry again about lunch. The Invisible Dad program will step in and make sure lunch is provided.
Donations can be made by sending cash or a check to school made out to “Walled Lake Food Services” with “Invisible Dad - DUBLIN” in the memo. This is not a tax-deductible donation, this is just money from you to a child in need.
Walled Lake Schools offers free and reduced-cost lunches; the Invisible Dad program aims to solve for the short-term and one-off situations. If you would like to apply for free or reduced-cost lunch, please contact Mr. Drewno.
For more information about this program, visit www.invisibledad.org. Please contact Mr. Drewno, or Julie Rader-Food Services Coordinator (julierader@wlcsd.org) with questions.
