Hamilton Ridge News & Events November 2021
A Note from Mrs. Z
Dear Hamilton Ridge Families,
I am incredibly proud of our students and how well they have adapted to the routine of school. In the early weeks of school, we emphasized getting to know our students, building relationships, and nurturing classroom and school community. We continue to develop these areas, but now students are well into the rigor of academic grade level standards, learning and growing every day. They are working hard!
As we round out the first quarter of the school year, the staff and I want to thank you for your amazing support. Many of us are parents also, and we know the heavy lifting you are doing each day. We look forward to seeing you at conferences on November 16, 18, or 22.
Have a great month!
Sincerely,
Karen Zwolenski, Principal
Technology For Our Schools

Hamilton Ridge PTC Update
Greetings HRE families!
- A huge THANK YOU to all the families, friends and neighbors who have donated to our Direct Donation Drive so far! BREAKING NEWS: we've extended the drive for a few more days. Instead of ending on Oct. 31, we're taking donations until Nov. 3! A few more days could make a big difference. Remember that classrooms who have 50% registered earn a PJ Day. So far, the entire school has earned music at lunch for a whole week AND a teacher swap! The next milestone to hit is $20,000 for a "Treat Yourself!" snack day. Let's do this!
- Please attend our November PTC meeting. A bit different this month -- due to Election Day, our meeting will take place Monday, Nov. 1, at 6:30. We'll meet inside the doors in the cafeteria!
- If you didn't see, thanks to the DOGS for building an awesome outdoor easel and a few sets of cornhole! What a great team! (pics below).
- Our next HRE Restaurant night is November 9th at the SHAKOPEE Chipotle. While you enjoy your burrito, know that 33% of your order comes back to the school! If online ordering, use the promo code BY79E3J to ensure your order goes toward the school!
- As we look ahead to holiday time, please consider purchasing spirit gear from our school store. HRE gets a portion of the proceeds from each purchase!

Be sure to contact your teacher directly should you not be able to participate in your scheduled conference.

2021-2022 School Celebrations
Throughout the school year, Hamilton Ridge along with all PLSAS elementary schools will celebrate student learning, the seasons, ESTEM, and special school events. While we do not hold one hour classroom parties for Halloween, Winter Holiday and Valentine's Day, we provide a variety of celebrations and special events.
This fall we celebrated Homecoming Week and had School Spirit Week with a couple of special dress up opportunities. We will celebrate the seasons with outdoor and ESTEM activities throughout the school year. We plan to have Kindness Week and I Love to Read Month activities throughout February and March. We hold All School Meetings where we celebrate birthdays and student learning.
Other events and dress up days (such as hat or PJ day) will be communicated by your child's teacher or through the school office. Additionally, teachers will hold special celebrations of learning, depending on the grade level learning outcomes. We will honor and respect family traditions and holidays and invite students to share their traditions during morning meetings, conversations, and share & tell activities. We look forward continuing our year of learning and celebrating students!
Important Health Office Information from Nurse Tiffany
Hello Parents! We are off to an awesome start to the 21-22 school year. It is so good to see all of the kids again.
Reminders regarding the Health Office:
Covid-19:
- We are not requiring students to have a Covid-19 test after being ill prior to returning to school.
- If you choose to have your student or a household member tested and if the result is positive please contact the Health Office at 952-461-7806 or email tstmichaels@priorlake-savage.k12.mn.us for return dates. A copy of test results is not required.
Injuries/Restrictions:
- If your student has received a medical restriction from a doctor (due to injury, etc.) please fax or email the restriction to the nurse. Email is listed above, the fax is 952-461-7849. The restriction must be signed by the doctor/provider in order to make accommodations (sitting out of gym, using crutches/boot etc.).
- Parent notes are accepted but only good for 1 day, then sufficient documentation will need to be provided by the doctor/provider.
General Illness:
- The Health Office is tracking Influenza like illness along with communicable diseases. Please continue to list symptoms on the attendance line when calling in for your student. You may also receive a phone call from the nurse or front office to gather more information.
- If your student has a fever (100 degrees or higher), diarrhea, or vomiting they will need to remain home until they are symptom free for 24 hours without symptom reducing medication.
- General medical questions/concerns should be directed to the building nurse.
Medications:
- Just a reminder to please send in any emergency medications that your child might need at school (epi pen, inhaler, etc.). The medication order/action plan and parent authorization must be completed each year in order for me to administer the medication. There are no exceptions to this policy.
- All medications must be submitted in the original, fully-labeled container/bottle.
Donations:
- The Health Office is in need of clothes and tennis shoes. If you have recently cleaned out your students closet and would like to donate, we are in need of gently worn pants (sweatpants/leggings - all sizes) and tennis shoes (sizes 9-3). These come in handy when students spill/have an accident or forget when it is a gym day.
- If your student was sent home in an extra pair of clothes, please wash and return to the Health Office when able.
Thank you for all you do and for sharing your amazing children with us!
Legacy Book Club
Dear Hamilton Ridge Families,
Hamilton Ridge is offering an option for families to purchase books in honor of students and help our library grow! It is called Legacy Book Club. This is a positive way for your child to give a unique gift to all students at Hamilton Ridge.
If your family chooses to purchase a book to donate to the Hamilton Ridge Media Center, we will place a book plate in the book with your child's name, and he or she will be the first student to check out the new book. Click the button below for more details.
Thank you,
Amy Schwingler
